Abstract
In 130 cases of subtotal gastrectomy under acupuncture anaesthesia
we performed electro-acupuncture induction to elevate electro-acupuncture tolerance threshold
and observed the relationship between it and visceral traction reaction in the course of operation. 1. 50 cases in the control group were not induced to elevate their electro-acupuncture tolerance thresholds (the average value was 3.14±1.23). 80 cases in the experimental group were induced to elevate their electro- acupuncture tolerance thresholds. The difference between the two groups was statistically significant(p
<
0.01). These results indicated that induc- tion might elevate electro-acupuncture tolerance threshold. 2. The incidence of visceral traction reaction in experimental group greatly declined as compared with that in the control group. X
2
test showed statistical significance(p
<
0.01). These results indicated that there was a direct relationship between the incidence of visceral traction reaction and the level of electro-acupuncture tolerance threshold
and therefore visceral traction reaction might be inhibited by elevating electro-acupuncture tole- rance threshold.
