One hundred ninety-three cases of cesarean sections were performed under acupuncture anesthesia

with successful rate of 95.8%

and excellent results obtained in 82.9% The authors discussed the acupuncture points selected and the type of Previous operations performed

and also compared with the results of 50 cesarean sections under epidural block. It was found that the needling points chosen

the types of operations performed

the causes of cesarean section

and the condition of patients before operation had no relationship to the results odtained

their statis- tical difference being insignificant (p>0.05). The poorer operative results in the repeated cesarean might be outcomes. The hemodyamic changes during operation were rather smooth in acu- puncture group while they fluctuated greatly in epibural group. Less blood was used in the acupuncture group

although the conditions of the patients in that group were much worse. The postoperative courses were much more uneventfnl

with less analgesics used

and better G. I. functions in the acupuncture group. The author conluded that cesarean section under acupuncture anesthesia could obtain better results. It is easy to manipulate

much safer

and smo- oth in postoperative course. Therefore

it is the anesthesia of choice.
