XU Guansun, Zhou Yiping. THE MODULATED EFFECT OF ACUPUNCTURE ON GASTROELECTRICAL ACTIVITY[J]. Acupuncture research, 1983, (1): 1-6.
This paper introduces some current advances on the methodology and physiological mechanism of gastroelectrical activity. Not only the exci- tement but also the motility in the gastrointestinal tract can be exhibited by recording the gastroelectrical activity. Above all the surface electrode recording of the gastroelectrical activity is an untraumatic method fitted in with clinical applications. Gastroelectrical activity has become a bio- electrical index useful in studying physiology
pharmacology and patho- physiology of the digestive tract. Some workers observed from the tests in animal and human of acupunc- ture research displayed as follows: There are double regulatory effect of acupuncture on gastroelectrical activity
and the relationship between the vegetative nervous system and acupuncture effects. The effects of acupunc- ture at Zusanli upon gastroelectrical activity function and their relative characteristics
and the relations between the channels and Zang-Fu organs have a relative specificity. The main component of the afferent pathway of acupuncture is the somatic nerve. But the blood vessels and their par- ticular nervous system can also take part in it. From the above mentioned result
it might be shown that the higher brain structures such as nucleus raphe
hypothalamus
Caudete nucleus aroused by acupuncture are important components in the double modulated effect of acupuncture.
