This series includes 76 cases.Of which 30 had laminectomy done

30 laminoplasty and 10 enlargement of the cervical canal. There were 65 males and 11 females.The age ranged from 26 to 72 years old.The successful rate was 80.4%

although there were 63 cases compli- cated with high level quadriplegia

coronary arterioclerobis heart disease and diabetes;43 cases with abnormal ECG and 22 with irregular respiration. Patient's position during surgery:30 prone and 39 on one's side. Area of operation:C2-T2 for 4 cases

C4-7 8 cases. Duration of surgery:It ranged from 1 hour 50 minutes to 5 hours lominutes. Acupoints:Biiateral Hegu and waiguan. The medication;Diazepam 10 mg

Droperidol-Fentanyl mixture in small dose were used. According to our exeprience 0.5% procaine local infiltration was needed averaging 90.9 ml without acupuncture.Otherwise the analgesic effect would be imcomplete.However

when acupuncture combined with 0.125% or 0.25% procaine infiltration

the analgesic effect could be more satisfying.
