In order to investigate the effect of acupuncture anesthesia(AA)on neonatal respiration a prospective study was carried out. The results mentioned above indicated that the respiratory parameter was steady under AA.It could not only avoid the side-effect of drugs

but also has a function of exciting and regulating respiration.So as to reduse the inhibitory effect of pethidine on respiration. According to the clinical observation

there was however no neonatal asphyxia under drug anesthesia groups.But the blood gas analysis of newborns were still affected in a various degrees

especially in epidural anesthesia group and intravenous anesthesia group.The newborns were remained at a slight respiratory acidosis and metabolic acidosis condition. Paying attention on selecting anesthesia method
