The influences of EA and iontophoretic ACh on nociceptive responses of Pf neurons following topical application of HC-3 at Sml were recorded extracellularly by multi-microelectrodes in rats. It was found that EA could inhibit the nociceptive responses of Pf neurons; the inhibition could be eliminated by topical application of HC-3 at SmI; iontophoretic ACh could also induce the inhibition
which was similar to the effect of EA obtained before HC-3 application at SmI. The results indicate that EA can inhibit the nociceptive responses of Pf neurons through SmI releasing ACh.
