Interaction of Auditory Evoked Potential and Somatosensory Evoked Potential Induced by Electrical Stimulation of Acupoints in Guinea Pig
The interaction of auditory evoked potential (AEP) and somatosensory evoked potential (SEP) which is evoked by electrical stimulation of acupuncture points in guinea pig was observed. Somatosen sory evoked potential in response to electrical stimulation of the acupoints
as well as the auditory-so-matosensory compound evoked potential (ASEP) elicited by electrical stimulation of the points and sound stimulation of the ear simultaneously can be recorded at the auditory cortex in guinea pig. ASEP is interactive
does not simply reflect the addition of respones to separate auditory and somatosensory stimuli
suggesting that such polysensory ioformation processing mny begin at the subcortical level
