The mechanism of electroacupuncture treatment for experimental gastric ulcer was studied. Results indicated that: (1) Although the content of hydroxyproline(Hyp) of ulcer group and ulcer plus electroacupuncture group was increased

especially in the former as compared with the normal group

there was no difference(P >0. 05 )between them. (2 ) Electroacupuncture could make the content of 6 - keto-PGF1a increase and thromboxane(TXB_2 ) decrease in the pathological condition of gastric mucosa

there were statistical significances compared with the normal and ulcer control groups (P < 0. 01 ). (3)The content of superoxide dismutase (SOD) of electroacupuncture group was significantly higher than that of the normal group

although it was higher than the ulcer control group

there was no statistical significance. (4)The rate of erythrocyte- antibody-complement rosette (EAC rosette ) of electroacupuncture group was higher than that in the normal group(p< 0. 01 )

no difference from the ul- cer control group(P >0. 05). These results indicate the affirmative curative effect of electroacupuncture on gastric ulcer is done through many ways. The research provided experimental basis for the treatment of ulcer by electroacupuncture.
