On the basis of dichotomizing projection of the peripheral processes of the spinal ganglion cells to both the intercostal nerves and viscera(such as stomach and so on) in rats
the evoked potential was recorded from the ipsilateral greater splanchnic nerve after electrostimulating the left T_(10) intercostal nerve
the roots of which had been cut. Result: the complex action potential
the mean conduction velocity of which was 12. 40m/sec
was recorded
the result was not influenced by paralysis of respiratory muscles
but lost after anesthesia of the intercostal nerve or greater splanchnic nerve. These findings suggest that neural impulse can conduct from the somatic branches
which go through the intercostal nerve
of the peripheral process of the spinal ganglion cells to the visceral ones
