Objective: To observe the effect of acu-moxibustion on urosch esis for studying the mechanism of acu-moxibustion in the treatment of cervical cancer caused retent ion of urine. Methods: Thirty-six rabbits were randomized into c ontrol
model and acu-moxibustion groups
with 12 cases in each group. Uroschesis model was esta b lished by sectioning the rabbit's uterus and the attached nerves. In acu-moxib ustion group
bilateral " Ciliao"(BL 32)
"Shenshu"(BL 23) and "Sanyinjiao"(SP 6) were punctured
sti mulated electrically (for 15 min) and also given with moxibustion (for 15 min). Intravesical pressure
micturition threshold
residual urine volume and pelvic nerve discharg e were recorded. Results: Compared with control group
the int ravesical pressure of model group and acu-moxibustion group lowered significant ly ( P <0.01
0.05)
while comparison between the later two groups showed that t he intravesical pressure of acu-moxibustion group was markedly higher than that o f model group
suggesting that acu-moxibustion could raise intravesical pressur e. Comparison among the 3 groups displayed that the micturation threshold and resi dual urine volume of model group and acu-moxibustion group were significantly h ig her than those of control group ( P <0.01); while comparison between model and acu-moxibustion groups displayed that values of these two indices of the late r group were all l ower than those of model group ( P <0.05)
meaning the increase of bladder con tractility by acu-moxibustion. Correspondingly
uterotomy induced striking dece as e of firing pulses was corrected
with the firing pulses of acu-moxibustion gro up being significantly more than those of model group ( P < 0.01). C onclu sion: Acu-moxibustion could reduce the retention of urine in the rabbit w ith uterotomy.
