Effect of Electroacupuncture on Behavioral Activities of Depression Rats
Objective: To observe the effect of electroacupuncture(EA) combined with Clomipramine(Clo) on behavioral activities of depression rats.Methods: Forty-eight SD rats were randomized into normal control
model
EA
Clo(2.5 mg)
Clo(5 mg) and EA+Clo(2.5 mg) groups
with 8 cases in each group.Chronic unpredictable stress(CUS) model was established by forcing the rat to have fasting
cool-water swim
water-deprivation
high temperature environment
etc.in 28 days.EA((4 Hz) and (60 Hz)
duration of the pulse train:(2.5 s) and(5 s)
≤(1 mA)) was applied to "Baihui"(GV 20) and right "Yanglingquan"(GB 34) for(30 min)
once every other day
7 times altogether.CHP was given to the animals by intraperitoneal injection.The open-field test was used to observe the rats' rearing and crossing activities
and the forced swim test was employed to determine the rats' duration of immovability(DI) during(5 min) in a water pool.Results: In comparison with normal control group
the rearing and crossing movement times of rats in model group decreased significantly(P

0.05);while compared with model group
the rearing times of rats in EA
Clo(2.5 mg)
Clo(5 mg) and EA+Clo(2.5 mg) groups
and crossing movement times of rats in EA
Clo(5 mg) and EA+Clo(2.5 mg) groups increased remarkably(P

and the effect of EA+Clo(2.5 mg) was significantly superior to those of EA and Clo(2.5 mg) groups in the rearing times and to that of EA group in the crossing times(P
