Currently

the application of acupuncture therapy for acute facial palsy still has some arguments.In the present paper

the authors make some comments on the applicability of electroacupuncture(EA) therapy for early treatment of idiopathic facial palsy during acute stage from 1) results of clinical random controlled studies

2) results of animal studies

and 3) the basic theory of traditional Chinese medicine.The authors conclude that electroacupuncture therapy is adoptable for idiopathic facial palsy during acute stage under the premise of proper choice of stimulating parameters.
