Progress of research on organ protection of acupuncture and moxibustion in the prevention and treatment of sepsis
“A significant progress has been made in the study of acupuncture for the prevention and treatment of sepsis. Sepsis is a serious disease that threatens human life and health, and currently relies mainly on supportive treatment in clinical practice, lacking specific treatment methods. However, acupuncture, as a traditional Chinese medicine therapy, has shown significant clinical significance in the prevention and treatment of sepsis. The research team systematically searched the Chinese journal full-text database and PubMed database, comprehensively summarizing clinical trials and animal experimental literature on acupuncture for the prevention and treatment of sepsis. The results showed that acupuncture exerts multi organ protective effects by inhibiting systemic inflammatory responses, reducing oxidative stress, regulating the immune system, and resisting cell death through various mechanisms. These mechanisms involve complex signaling pathways, immune cells, and cytokines. This study provides a new perspective and solution for the treatment of sepsis, confirming the important role of acupuncture in preventing and treating sepsis. In the future, with the deepening of research, acupuncture therapy is expected to play a greater role in the clinical treatment of sepsis.”
