    • Comparison of the effects of moxibustion and acupuncture of combined “Biao-Ben” acupoints on intestinal sensitivity and autonomic nervous system function in rats with diarrhea-predominant irritable bowel syndrome

    • In the field of traditional Chinese medicine acupuncture and moxibustion treatment, a recent paper discussed the difference between moxibustion and acupuncture in the treatment of diarrhea predominant irritable bowel syndrome (IBS-D) model rats. The study used the method of "specimen matching acupoints" to compare the therapeutic effects of moxibustion and acupuncture on rats. The results showed that compared with the model group, the rats in the moxibustion group and acupuncture group had a decrease in diarrhea rate, an increase in open field experimental activity, an increase in pain threshold and volume threshold, an improvement in heart rate variability index of electrocardiogram, and a decrease in serum inflammatory factor levels. Further comparison revealed that the moxibustion group had better improvement effects on multiple indicators than the acupuncture group. This shows that the moxibustion method of "specimen with acupoints" may have a better effect on the treatment of IBS-D, which provides a new idea and method for the treatment of IBS-D by acupuncture and moxibustion in traditional Chinese medicine.
