    • Effect of electroacupuncture on urodynamics and Raf/MEK/ERK signaling pathway in spinal cord tissue of rats with detrusor hyperreflexia after suprasacral spinal cord injury

    • New progress has been made in the study of the improvement effect and mechanism of electroacupuncture on bladder function in rats with overactive detrusor reflex after sacral spinal cord injury. This study compared the urodynamic parameters, bladder tissue morphology, spinal cord tissue cell apoptosis, and expression levels of related signaling pathways in blank group, sham operation group, model group, electroacupuncture group, and electroacupuncture+PD98059 group rats. It was found that electroacupuncture treatment can significantly reduce bladder basal pressure, leak point pressure, and maximum pressure, increase bladder maximum capacity and compliance, reduce spinal cord tissue cell apoptosis, upregulate the expression levels of Epac2, Rap, p-Raf, p-MEK, p-ERK1/2, and Bcl-2 proteins in spinal cord tissue, and downregulate the expression level of Bax protein. These results suggest that electroacupuncture may improve bladder function in detrusor hyperreflexic rats by upregulating spinal Epac2 and Rap, initiating the Raf-MEK-ERK cascade reaction, reducing cell apoptosis. This discovery provides new ideas and methods for the treatment of bladder dysfunction after sacral spinal cord injury.
