摘要:Objective To observe the effect of different frequencies of electroacupuncture(EA)stimulation on pain threshold(PT)and expression of vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF)in dorsal horns(DHs)of the lumbar spinal cord in resiniferatoxin(RTX)-induced post-herpetic neuralgia(PHN)rats,so as to reveal its mechanism in alleviating PHN.Methods Male SD rats were randomized into control,model,2 Hz-EA,15 Hz-EA,100 Hz-EA and sham EA groups(n=16 in each).The PHN model was induced by a single intraperitoneal injection of RTX(250!g/kg),and rats of the control group received intraperitoneal injection of the same dose of vehicle(10% Tween 80,10% alcohol and 0.9% NaCl).Rats of EA treatment groups received EA stimulation(2 Hz,15 Hz or 100 Hz,1 mA)at the left"Huantiao"(GB 30)and"Yanglingquan"(GB 34)for 30 min,once every other day for35 days,starting from 1 week after RTX injection.For sham control,acupuncture needles were inserted ipsilaterally into GB 30 and GB 34 for 30 min without electrical stimulation or manual needle manipulation.The mechanical allodynia was quantified with Von Frey filaments.The expression of mRNA and protein of VEGF in the DHs of lumbar spinal cord 4-6 segments(sampled under light microscope)was detected by quantitative polymerase chain reaction(qPCR)and Western blot,respectively.Results A single RTX injection gradually induced tactile allodynia(significant reduction of the mechanical PT)within 3 weeks relevant to the control group(P<0.01).EA applied to GB 30 and GB 34 at 2 Hz and 15 Hz,but not 100 Hz,significantly decreased the tactile allodynia after the treatment(2 Hz from 2 weeks on and 15 Hz from 3 weeks on)in RTX-treated rats(P<0.05).RTX administration increased the mRNA and protein expression of VEGF in the lumbar spinal cord compared with the control group(P<0.05).Moreover,2 Hz,but not 15 Hz and 100 Hz EA significantly reduced VEGF mRNA and protein expression(P<0.05).The expression of both VEGF mRNA and protein was negatively correlated with mechanical PT in RTX-induced PHN rats.Conclusion EA at 2 Hz can significantly reduce VEGF expression in the lumbar spinal cord DHs of PHN rats,which is possibly in part related to its effect in alleviating the mechanical allodynia.Our study suggests that 2 Hz EA is the best stimulation frequency for relieving PHN.
摘要:Objective To observe the effect of acupuncture on the expression of glial fibrillary acidic protein(GFAP)in hippocampus and prefrontal cortex and the level of serum interleukin 10(IL-10)in rats with depression,so as to explore its mechanism underlying improvement of depression.Methods Thirty-two male SD rats were randomly divided into four groups:control,model,acupuncture,and medication(Fluoxetine,Flu)(n=8 rats in each).The depression model was established by using chronic restraint stress(constraint,fasting,water deprivation,etc.)combined with solitary raising for 28 days.Acupuncture was applied to"Baihui"(GV 20)and"Yintang"(GV 29),and bilateral"Sanyinjiao"(SP 6)for 20 min,once daily for 28 days.Fluoxetine(1.8 mg/kg)was given to rats of the medication group by gavage once every day for 28 days.Sucrose consumption test and open field test(crossing and rearing locomotion)were carried out to evaluate the behavioral changes.Western blot was used to detect the expression of GFAP in the hippocampus and prefrontal cortex,and the content of serum IL-10 was detected by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA).Results After modeling,the sucrose consumption,the crossing numbers and rearing times,hippocampal GFAP protein expression and serum IL-10 content were significantly decreased and prefrontal GFAP protein expression was up-regulated markedly in the model group relevant to the control group(P<0.01).After the treatment,the decreased levels of sucrose consumption and crossing numbers,hippocampal GFAP protein expression and serum IL-10 content and the increased prefrontal GFAP protein expression were considerably suppressed in both medication and acupuncture groups compared with the model group(P<0.05,P<0.01).No significant differences were found between the acupuncture and medication groups in increasing the rats' locomotion,sucrose consumption,hippocampal GFAP protein expression(P>0.05)and in downregulating prefrontal GFAP protein expression(P>0.05)except up-regulation of IL-10 level.Conclusion Acupuncture intervention plays a positive role in anti-depression in rats,which may be related to its effects in regulating the expression of GFAP in the hippocampal and prefrontal astrocytes,and in increasing the content of serum anti-inflammatory cytokine IL-10.
摘要:Objective To observe the effect of electroacupuncture(EA)intervention on learning-memory ability and the expression of senile plaques(SP),amyloid precursor protein(APP),β-secretase 1(BACE 1)and insulin degrading enzyme(IDE)in the hippocampus in APP/presenilin 1(PS 1)double transgenic Alzheimer's disease(AD)mice,so as to reveal its mechanisms underlying improvement of AD.Methods A total of 18 male APP/PS 1 double transgenic AD mice were randomly divided into model,EA-2-week and EA-3-week groups(n=6 in each).The control group was consisted of 6 male wild mice.EA(2 Hz,2 mA)was applied to"Baihui"(GV 20)and bilateral"Shenshu"(BL 23)for 15 min,once a day,with 7 days being a therapeutic course,2 or 3 courses altogether and with an one day's interval between every two courses.The spatial learningmemory ability was assessed using Morris water maze test during 5 days' training.The immunoactivity of SP in the hippocampus tissue was detected by immunohistochemistry,and the expression levels of APP,BACE 1 and IDE in the hippocampus were analyzed by Western blot.Results Following modeling,the escape latency and path length of hidden platform tests were significantly increased(P<0.01,P<0.05),and the platform crossing time of spatial probing test significantly decreased(P<0.01)in the model group compared with the control group.After EA intervention,the escape latency on the 5 th day of training,and the path length on the 4 th and 5 th day of training in both EA-2-week and EA-3-week groups were significantly shorter relevant to the model group(P<0.01),and those of the EA-3-week group were considerably shorter than those of the EA-2-week group in the escape latency and path length(P<0.05,P<0.01).The platform crossing times of spatial probing test were significanthy increased in both EA-2-week and EA-3-week groups in comparison with the model group(P<0.01),and that of the EA-3-week group was considerably increased compared with the EA-2-week group(P<0.05).Immunohistochemical staining showed that the number of SP in the hippocampus was markedly increased in the model group compared with the control group(P<0.01),and was markedly reduced in both EA-2-week and EA-3-week groups(P<0.01),and that of the EA-3-week group was significantly decreased compared with the EA-2-week group(P<0.01).The expression levels of hippocampal APP and BACE 1 proteins were significantly higher in the model group than in the control group(P<0.01),and that of hippocampal IDE was markedly lower in the model group than in the control group(P<0.01).After EA,the increased expression levels of APP and BACE 1 proteins and the decreased expression level of IDE in the EA-2-week and EA-3-week groups were significantly inhibited(P<0.01).The effects of EA-3-week were significantly stronger than those of EA-2-week in down-regulating the expression of APP and BACE 1 proteins and up-regulating the expression of IDE(P<0.01,P<0.05).Conclusion EA stimulation of GV 20 and BL 23 can improve the learning-memory ability in APP/PS 1 double transgenic AD mice,which may be related to its effects in down-regulating the expression of SP,APP and BACE 1 proteins and up-regulating the expression of IDE protein in the hippocampus.
摘要:Objective We have demonstrated that needle knife(acupotomy)treatment can improve knee osteoarthritis(KOA)in rabbits.The present study was designed to examine its effect on expression of phosphorylated focal adhesion kinase(p-FAK),phosphinositides 3 kinase(p-PI 3 K)and Aggrecan genes and proteins in the knee-joint cartilage tissues of KOA rabbits,so as to explore its partial molecular mechanism underlying improvement of KOA.Methods Forty-nine New Zealand male rabbits were randomly divided into normal control,model,model+inhibitor,needle knife,needle knife+inhibitor,electroacupuncture(EA),EA +inhibitor groups(n=7 in each).The KOA model was established by modified Videman method(left hindlimb extension immobilization and ankle dorsal flexion 60 O).Acupotomy relaxing manipulation was applied to the lateral collateral ligament and patellar ligament of the left knee-joint,two times a week for 4 weeks,and EA(2 Hz/100 Hz,3 mA)was applied to the left"Liangmen"(ST 21),"Xuehai"(SP 10),"Neixiyan"(EX-LE 4)and"Dubi"(ST 35)for 20 min,three times a week,for4 weeks.About 2 hbefore every needle-knife or EA treatment or at the corresponding time-point,intra-articular cavity injection of PF-562271(a specific antagonist of FAK,200 !mol/L,0.5 mL)was performed in the three inhibitor groups.The expression levels of p-FAK,p-PI 3 K,Aggrecan genes and proteins in the cartilage tissues were measured with quantitative Real-time PCR and Western blot,separately.Results After modeling,the expression levels of p-FAK and p-PI 3 Kgenes and proteins were significantly up-regulated(P<0.05,P<0.01),while those of Aggrecan protein and mRNA considerably down-regulated in the model group in comparison with the normal group(P<0.01).Following 4 weeks' needle-knife or EA treatment,the expression levels of p-FAK and p-PI 3 Kand Aggrecan proteins in both EA and needle-knife groups,and Aggrecan mRNA in the needle knife group were significantly up-regulated(P<0.05,P<0.01).After administration of p-FAK antagonist,modeling-induced up-regulation of expression of p-FAK mRNA and protein and p-PI 3 Kprotein,as well as modeling-induced down-regulation of Aggrecan mRNA and protein were significantly suppressed in the model+inhibitor group(P<0.05,P<0.01),and needle knife-induced and EA-induced up-regulation of expression of p-FAK,p-PI 3 Kand Aggrecan mRNAs and proteins was notably suppressed respectively in comparison with the needle knife and EA groups(P<0.05,P<0.01).The effect of needle knife was significantly superior to that of EA in up-regulating p-PI 3 Kand Aggrecan mRNAs as well as p-FAK,p-PI 3 Kand Aggrecan proteins(P<0.05,P<0.01).Conclusion Needle knife intervention can up-regulate the expression levels of p-FAK,p-PI 3 Kand Aggrecan proteins and mRNAs in the cartilage tissue of the knee-joint in KOA rabbits,suggesting an involvement of FAK-PI 3 Ksignaling in the needle knifeinduced improvement of KOA.
摘要:Objective To observe the effect of acupuncture intervention on depressive-like behavior and nuclear factor-κB(NF-κB),inducible nitric oxide synthase(iNOS)and nitric oxide(NO)levels in the prefrontal cortex in chronic stress induced depression rats,so as to explore its mechanism underlying antidepressant effect.Methods SD rats were randomly divided into control,model,acupuncture and medication(Fluoxetine)groups(8 rats/group).The depression model was established by chronic unpredictable stress stimulation(fasting,water deprivation,cold water swimming,tail clamping,constraining,etc.,and solitary raising)for 28 days.Acupuncture treatment was applied to "Baihui"(GV 20)and unilateral"Neiguan"(PC 6)once every other day for 14 days.Fluoxetine(10 mg/kg)was given to rats of the medication group by gavage(p.o.)before every stress stimulation,once every day for 28 days.The animals' behavior was tested by using sucrose intake and open field tests(number of crossings and rearings in 5 min).The expression of NF-κB in the prefrontal cortex was detected by Western blot,and the contents of prefrontal iNOS and NO were detected by ELISA and nitric reductases,respectively.Results After modeling,the sucrose intake and the numbers of crossing and rearing times were significantly decreased(P<0.01),and the expression of NF-κB protein and the contents of iNOS and NO in the prefrontal cortex were significantly increased in the model group compared with the control group(P<0.01).Following the treatment,the sucrose intake and the numbers of crossing and rearing times were significantly increased in both acupuncture and medication groups compared with the model group(P<0.05,P<0.01),and the expression level of NF-κB,and iNOS and NO contents in the prefrontal cortex were significantly lower in both acupuncture and medication groups than in the model group(P<0.01).There were no significant differences between the acupuncture and medication groups in the crossing number and rearing times,NF-κB expression,and iNOS and NO levels(P>0.05).Conclusion Acupuncture treatment can improve the depressive-like behavior of depression rats,which is closely related to its effects in downregulating the levels of NF-κB protein,iNOS and NO in the prefrontal cortex to reduce brain inflammatory damage.
摘要:Objective To observe the effect of acupoint injection at"Yingxiang"(LI 20)and"Yintang"(GV 29)on nasal allergic reactions and the expression of histamine receptor H 1 and H 4 in nasal mucosa of allergic rhinitis(AR)rats,so as to reveal its mechanism underlying improvement of AR.Methods SD rats were randomized into normal,model,non-acupoint injection and acupoint injection groups(n=8 in each).The AR model was established by intraperitoneal(i.p.)injection of mixture of ovalbumin,aluminium hydroxide gel and normal saline(once every other day,for 7 times),and nasal drip of ovalbumin(on the following day of i.p.for 7 days).The mixture solution of lidocaine,dexamethasone(DXM)and transfer factor(0.1 mL/acupoint or non-acupoint)was injected into bilateral LI 20 and GV 29 in the acupoint injection group,or into the non-acupoints(about 5 cm below the armpit on both sides,and the middle point between the left"Houhai"[GV 1]and"Huantiao"[GB 30]),on the 1 st,5 th,9 th,and 13 th day after modeling.Symptoms of sneezing,nasal discharge,nose-rubbing,etc.were scored after the treatment.The expression levels of H1 R and H4 R proteins and genes in the nasal mucosa tissue were determined using immunohistochemistry and quantitative real-time PCR,respectively.Results Compared with the normal group,the symptom score and the expression levels of H1 R,H4 R proteins and genes in nasal mucosa were significantly increased in the model group(P<0.05).After acupoint injection for 4 times,the symptom score and the expression levels of H1 R,H4 R proteins and mRNAs were significantly down-regulated in the acupoint injection group relevant to the model group(P<0.05).There were no significant differences between the non-acupoint and the model groups in the abovementioned indexes(P>0.05),suggesting a specificity of the effect of acupoint injection.Conclusion Acupoint injection can relieve the allergic symptoms of AR rats,which may be related to its effects in downregulating the over expression of H1 R and H4 R proteins and genes in the nasal mucosa.

摘要:Objective To observe the immunoregulatory effect of electroacupuncture(EA)intervention for muscular dystrophy chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(COPD)rats,so as to investigate its underlying mechanism in improving respiratory function.Methods Forty male SD rats were randomly divided into 5 groups:normal,model,EA,exercise,and EA+exercise(n=8 in each).The muscular dystrophy COPD model was established by placing the rats in a closed box to be exposed to cigarette smoke(3-10 cigarettes/time)for 60 min,twice daily,6 days a week for 90 days.The EA,exercise and EA+exercise interventions were given beginning from day 80 after exposure to cigarette smoke.EA(2 Hz/40 Hz,6 mA)was applied to"Danzhong"(CV 17),"Qihai"(CV 6),"Zhongwan"(CV 12),"Liangmen"(ST 21)and bilateral"Quchi"(LI 11)for 10 min,once every other day,for 20 times.The swimming exercise was conducted by forcing the rat to swim in a water box for 10 min,once every other day,for 20 times.The rat's lung function including the resistance of inspiration(RI),functional residual capacity(FRC),pulmonary dynamic compliance(Cdyn),etc.,was detected under anesthesia.Pathological changes of the lung tissue were detected by H.E.staining,and the contents of serum TNF-alpha,IL-6 and IL-1 beta assayed by ELISA.Results After 80 days' exposure to the cigarette smoke,the rats' body weight values in the model,EA,exercise and EA+exercise groups were significantly lower than that of the normal group(P<0.05).Moreover,the RI and FRC levels were significantly increased,and the Cdyn level was remarkably decreased in the model group relevant to the normal group(P<0.01).Following the intervention,both RI and FRC levels were significantly down-regulated in the EA,exercise and EA+exercise groups relevant to the model group(P<0.05),suggesting an improvement of the lung function.But the decreased Cdyn level had no marked improvement in the 3 treatment groups relevant to the model group(P>0.05).The numbers of monocytes and lymphocytes of the lung tissue,and the contents of serum TNF-α,IL-6 and IL-1βwere significantly higher in the model group than in the normal group(P<0.01),and significantly lower in the EA,exercise and EA+exercise groups than in the model group(P<0.05),except monocytes in the exercise group(P>0.05).No significant differences were found among the EA,exercise and EA+exercise groups in the levels of RI and FRC,pulmonary monocytes and serum IL-6 and IL-1β(P>0.05).The body weight was significantly higher in the exercise and EA+exercise groups than in the EA group,and the pulmonary lymphocytes and serum TNF-αobviously lowered in the EA group than in the exercise group(P<0.05).H.E.staining showed deformation of the bronchial tube cavity,detachment and flattening of the bronchial mucosal epithelial cilia,hyperplasia of Goblet cells,infiltration of abundant inflammatory cells in the submucosal layer and muscular layer,more secretions in the bronchovascular cavity,incomplete alveolar structure,thinning and rupture of the alveolar wall,and expansion of the alveolar cavity to form large pulmonary vesicles after modeling,which was obviously milder in the 3 treatment groups.Conclusion EA intervention can improve the pulmonary function and pathological changes in pulmonary muscular dystrophy COPD rats,which is associated with its effects in reducing pulmonary monocytes and lymphocytes and serum TNF-α,IL-6 and IL-1βcontents,suggesting an enhancement of immunoregulation.

摘要:Objective To observe the effect of electroacupuncture(EA)on the expression of scavenger receptor A Ⅰ(SR-A Ⅰ)protein and mRNA in peritoneal macrophages of atherosclerosis(AS)rabbits.Methods A total of 26 New Zealand rabbits were used in the present study,among them,7 were randomly selected to constitute a blank control group,and the rest 19 rabbits were fed with high-fat diet combined with carotid artery balloon injury for establishing AS model.Eight weeks after high-fat forage feeding,one high-fat fed rabbit and one normal rabbit were randomly selected for verifying the success of modeling.HE staining was employed to examine pathological changes of the common carotid artery after paraffin section.Then the rest 18 rabbits were randomly divided into model,EA and medication groups(n= 6 rabbits in each).EA(2 Hz,1 mA)was applied at"Guanyuan"(ST 25)and bilateral"Zusanli"(ST 36)and"Neiguan"(PC 6)for 20 min.The rabbits of the medication group were treated by gavage of Atorvastatin Calcium(1 mg·kg(-1)·d(-1)·d(-1)),and those of the model group treated by gavage of distilled water(2 mL·kg-1·d-1).The treatment was given once daily for 4 weeks,with one day's interval between every two weeks.Three days before termination of the experiments,sterile starch solution(3-4 mL/animal)was injected into the peritoneal cavity,and at the end of the experiment,the peritoneal fluid was collected and centrifugated to be cultivated in Dulbecco's Modified Eagle Medium(DMEM)for collecting the macrophages.The expression of SR-A Ⅰ protein and mRNA in macrophages was assayed by Western blot and PCR,respectively.Results HE staining displayed an injury of the inner membrane of the carotid artery marked by observable atherosclerotic plaques,interruption,thickening and uplift,inflammatory cell infiltration,etc.in the AS model rabbits which were relatively milder in both EA and medication groups.The expression levels of SR-AⅠ protein and mRNA were significantly up-regulated in the model group relevant to the blank control group(P<0.01),and considerably down-regulated in both EA and medication groups compared with the model group(P<0.01).There were no statistical differences between the EA and medication groups in the decreased levels of expression of SR-AⅠ protein and mRNA(P>0.05).Conclusion EA intervention may improve the severity of atherosclerosis to a certain degree in AS rabbits,which is possibly associated with its effect in inhibiting the expression of SR-A Ⅰ protein and mRNA in the peritoneal macrophages.

摘要:Objective Restraint manipulation is necessary for observing the effect of acupuncture or moxibustion stimulation on various variables in the experimental study.Thus,the present study was designed to examine the impact of restraint manipulation on rats' learning-memory ability,visional acuity,and body mass,so as to have a reasonable assessment on the influence of restraint stress.Methods Normal Sprague Dawley rats were randomly assigned to a restraint group(n=15)and a control group(n=15).In the restraint group,self-made restraint devices were used to bind the rats for 30 min daily for 30 consecutive days.The body mass of the rats was monitored daily;and the learning-memory ability and the visional acuity assessed using visual water task.Results After 30 days' restraint,no significant differences were found between the two groups in the training times for acquiring a correct rate of 80%in the learning-memory tests,and visional acuity and body mass(P >0.05).Conclusion Thirty days' restraint has no obvious impact on the increase of body weight,learning-memory and visional acuity in normal rats,suggesting an applicable of restraint device in acupuncture study.
摘要:Objective To study the clinical efficacy and safety of bee-venom acupuncture therapy for rheumatoid arthritis(RA).Methods A total of 120 cases of RA patients were randomized into bee-sting acupuncture group(treatment)and western medicine group(control)in accordance with the random number table.The patients of the control group were treated by oral administration of Methotrexate(10 mg,once a week)and Celecoxlb(0.2 g,once a day),and those of the treatment group treated by 5 to 15 bee stings of Ashi-points or acupoints according to different conditions and corporeity,and with the bee-sting retained for about 5 min every time,once every other day.The treatment lasted for 8 weeks.The therapeutic effect was assessed by examining symptoms and signs of the affected joints as morning stiffness duration,swollen/tender joint counts(indexes),handgrip strength,15 m-walking time,visual analogue scale(VAS),Disease Activity Score including a 28-joint count(DAS 28),rheumatoid factor(RF),erythrocyte sedimentation rate(ESR),C-reactive protein(CRP),anti-cyclic citrullinated peptide antibody(ACCPA);and for assessing the safety of bee-venom acupuncture,the patients' responses of fever,enlargement of lymph nodes,regional red and swollen,itching,blood and urine tests for routine were examined.Results Findings of DAS 28 responses displayed that of the two 60 cases in the control and bee-venom acupuncture groups,15 and 18 experienced marked improvement,33 and 32 were effective,12 and 10 ineffective,with the effective rates being 80% and 83.33%,respectively.No significant difference was found between the two groups in the effective rate(P>0.05).After the treatment,both groups have witnessed a marked decrease in the levels of morning stiffness duration,arthralgia index,swollen joint count index,joint tenderness index,15 mwalking time,VAS,RF,ESR,CRP and ACCPA,and an obvious increase of handgrip strength relevant to their own levels of pre-treatment in each group(P<0.05).There were no significant differences between the two groups in the abovementioned indexes(P>0.05).The routine blood test,routine urine test,routine stool test,electrocardiogram result,the function of liver and kidney and other security index were within the normal range,without any significant adverse effects found after bee-stinging treatment.Conclusion Bee-venom acupuncture therapy for RA patients is safe and effective,worthy of popularization and application in clinical practice.
摘要:Objective To explore the therapeutic effect of acupuncture in the treatment of polycystic ovarian syndrome(PCOS)patients with abdominal obesity by regulating glucose metabolism,insulin resistance,sex hormones,etc.Methods Eligible PCOS volunteers were randomly divided into treatment group(n=30)and control group(n=28).The treatment group received acupuncture therapy three times a week combined with diet control and exercise.EA(2 Hz/100 Hz,4-8 mA)was applied to bilateral Daimai(GB 26)and Tianshu(ST 25)for 20 min/time,and bilateral Daheng(SP 15),Shenshu(BL 23),Ciliao(BL 32),Guilai(ST 29),Zulinqi(GB 41)and Waiguan(SJ 5)were stimulated with filiform needles,with the needles retained for 20 min.Patients of the control group were asked to restrict intake of dietary calories(low fat,appropriate proteins,and high carbohydrate)and aerobic exercise(>40 min/time),3 times/week.The treatment duration lasted 12 weeks.Before and after the treatment,serum fasting insulin(FINS),fasting blood-glucose(FBG),Testosterone(T),luteinizing hormone(LH)and follicle stimulating hormone(FSH)contents were assayed using immuno-fluorometry,the homeostasis model assessment of insulin resistance(HOMA-IR)and ratio of LH/FSH were calculated,and body mass index(BMI),waist circumference(WC)and waist-hip ratio(WHR)were measured,separately.Results Comparison with their own individual pre-treatment,the levels of FINS,HOMAIR,T,LH,LH/FSH,BMI,WC and WHR(not FBG)in both control and treatment groups were significantly decreased(P<0.05,P<0.01),and the levels of FINS,HOMA-IR and WC were significantly lower in the treatment group than in the control group(P<0.01,P<0.05).No marked differences were found between two groups in the levels of FBG,T,LH,LH/FSH,BMI and WHR(P>0.05).Conclusion Acupuncture can effectively reduce FINS,HOMA-IR and WC levels in PCOS patients with abdominal obesity,down-regulating insulin resistance,which is significantly superior to simple diet control plus exercise.

摘要:Objective To observe the clinical efficacy of joint application of electroacupuncture(EA),acupoint-injection and fire-needle in the treatment of menopausal syndrome(MS)women.Methods One hundred MS patients were randomized into control group and combined treatment group(n=50 patients in each).The combined treatment group was treated by joint application of EA,acupoint-injection and fire-needle stimulation,and the control group treated by EA stimulation alone.EA was applied to Shenshu(BL 23),Xinshu(BL15),Taixi(KI 3),Sanyinjiao(SP 6),Laogong(PC 8),Pishu(BL 20),etc.,for 30 min,once daily for 10 days.Point-injection of red ginseng-ophiopogon root injection(0.5 mL)or red-hot needle stimulation was applied to bilateral BL15,BL 20,SP 6 and BL 23 once daily for 10 days and once every other day for 5 times,respectively.The modified Kupperman index scale was used to evaluate symptoms(hot flashes and night sweats:4 points;paresthesia,insomnia,dyspareunia,irritability and problems of urinary system:2 point each;depression,dizziness,fatigue,joint pain or muscular pain,headache,palpitation,skin formication:1 point each)of the perimenopausal syndrome,and 3 months' follow-up survey was conducted after the treatment.Each symptom score was calculated as the product of the symptom severity score(0,no;1,mild;2,moderate;3,severe)multiplied by the points of symptom index.The total Kupperman score was the sum of the scores of all the items.The therapeutic effect was also evaluated according to the "Guiding Principles for Clinical Trials of New Drugs of Chinese Materia Medica"(2002).Results The Kupperman scores were significantly decreased following the 10 days' treatment and 3 months thereafter in both control and combined treatment groups in comparison with their individual pre-treatment(P<0.05),and were obviously lower in the combined treatment group than in the control group after treatment(P<0.05).Of the both 50 patients in the control and combined treatment groups,22(44%)and 35(70%)experienced a remarkably improvement,18(36%)and12(24%)were effective,and 10(20%)and 3(6%)ineffective,with the total effective rates being 80% and 94%,respectively.The therapeutic effect of the combined treatment group was notably superior to that of the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion The joint application of electroacupuncture(EA),acupoint-injection and fire needle is significantly superior to that of simple EA in improving the symptoms of patients with menopausal syndrome.
摘要:Objective To analyze studies published in journals included in PubMed in terms of randomized controlled trials(RCTs)examining the therapeutic effect of acupuncture for simple obesity,so as to provide a reference for subsequent RCTrelated designs and results.Methods RCT literature about acupuncture treatment of simple obesity from the PubMed database and from 2000 to 2016 was retrieved by using keywords of"obesity""fat""acupuncture""joint application of acupuncture and herbal medicine"or "auricular point""electroacupuncture","acupoint application",or "cupping",followed by screening,extraction and evaluation of the design methodology and outcomes using Consolidated Standards for Reporting of Trials(CONSORT)and Standards for Reporting Interventions in Controlled Trials of Acupuncture(STRICTA).Results Fourteen articles from six countries in Asia examining the therapeutic effect of acupuncture in the treatment of simple obesity mainly by using acupoints of the Stomach Meridian were included.Generally,acupuncture was found to be more effective than sham acupuncture.However,PubMed did not include any RCTs comparing acupuncture with western medicine for weight loss and many problems(as details of needling manipulation,etc.)remained in the the research reports available in the database.Conclusion All the existing RCTs generally affirm the positive efficacy of acupuncture for simple obesity,but high-quality RCTs,particularly those comparing acupuncture with western medicines for weight loss are lacking.
