      摘要:ObjectiveTo observe the effect of electroacupuncture (EA) at “Neiguan” (PC6) on pain response in mice injected with complete Freund’s adjuvant (CFA) in the hind paw, so as to investigate the mechanism of orexin 1 receptor (OX1R) -endogenous cannabinoid 1 receptor (CB1R) pathway in acupuncture analgesia.MethodsA total of 48 male C57BL/6 mice were used in the present study. In the first part of this study, 18 mice were randomized into control, model and EA groups, with 6 mice in each group. In the second part of this study, 30 mice were randomized into control, model, EA, EA+Naloxone, EA+OX1R antagonist (SB33486) groups, with 6 mice in each group. Inflammatory pain model was established by subcutaneous injection of 20 μL CFA solution in the left hind paw. EA (2 Hz, 2 mA ) was applied to bilateral PC6 for 20 min, once a day for 5 consecutive days. The mice in the EA+Naloxone and EA+SB33486 groups were intraperitoneally injected with naloxone (10 mg/kg) or SB33486 (15 mg/kg) 15 min before EA intervention on day 5, respectively. Tail-flick method and Von Frey method were used to detect the thermal pain threshold and mechanical pain threshold of mice. Quantitative real-time PCR was used to detect the expression level of β-endorphin mRNA in periaqueductal gray (PAG) of mice. The expression of OX1R positive cells in the lateral hypothalamic area (LH) and CB1R positive cells in the ventrolateral periaqueductal gray (vlPAG) were detected by immunofluorescence.ResultsCompared with the control group, the thermal pain threshold and mechanical pain threshold of the model group were decreased (P<0.001), the expression level of β-endorphin mRNA in PAG was decreased (P<0.001), and the numbers of OX1R positive cells in LH and CB1R positive cells in vlPAG were decreased (P<0.05,P<0.001). Compared with the model group, the thermal pain threshold and mechanical pain threshold of the EA group were significantly increased (P<0.001), and the numbers of OX1R positive cells in LH and CB1R positive cells in vlPAG were increased (P<0.01, P<0.001). Compared with the EA group, the mechanical pain threshold in the EA+SB33486 group was significantly decreased (P<0.01), but there was no significant difference in the mechanical pain threshold between the EA+Naloxone group and EA group, and the numbers of OX1R positive neurons in LH and CB1R positive neurons in vlPAG were decreased in the EA+SB33486 group (P<0.001).ConclusionEA at PC6 can achieve analgesic effect on CFA mice by activating the OX1R-CB1R pathway in the brain, and this effect is opioid-independent.

      摘要:ObjectiveTo observe the effect of electroacupuncture (EA) at different intensities on nociceptive discharges of wide dynamic range (WDR) neurons in the spinal dorsal horns (DHs) of rats, so as to explore its regulatory characteristics on nociceptive signals at the spinal level.MethodsA total of 25 male SD rats were used in the present study. A microelectrode array was used to record the discharge activity of WDR neurons in the lumbar spinal DHs of normal rats. After finding the WDR neuron, electrical stimulation (pulse width of 2 ms) was administered to the plantar receptive field (RF) for determining its response component of discharges according to the latency of action potential generation (Aβ [0 to 20 ms], Aδ [20 to 90 ms], C [90 to 500 ms] and post-discharge [500 to 800 ms]). High-intensity electrical stimulation was continuously applied to the RF at the paw’s plantar surface to induce DHs neuronal windup response. Subsequently, EA stimulation at different intensities (1 mA and 2 mA) was applied to the left “Zusanli”(ST36) at a frequency of 2 Hz/15 Hz for 10 min. The induction of WDR neuronal windup was then repeated under the same conditions. The quantity of nociceptive discharge components and the windup response of WDR neurons before and after EA stimulations at different intensities were compared.ResultsCompared to pre-EA, both EA1 mA and EA2 mA significantly reduced the number of Aδ and C component discharges of WDR neurons during stimulation, as well as post-discharge (P<0.01,P<0.001). The inhibitory rate of C component by EA2 mA was significantly higher than that by EA1 mA (P<0.05). Meanwhile, both EA1 mA and EA2 mA attenuated the windup response of WDR neurons (P<0.05, P<0.01), and the effect of EA2 mA was stronger than that of EA1 mA (P<0.05). Further analysis showed that when EA1 mA and EA2 mA respectively applied to both non-receptive field (non-RF) and RF, a significant reduction in the number of Aδ component, C component and post-discharge was observed (P<0.05, P<0.01). EA2 mA at the non-RF and RF demonstrated a significant inhibitory effect on the windup response of WDR neurons (P<0.01, P<0.05), but EA1 mA only at the non-RF showed a significant inhibitory effect on the windup response (P<0.01).ConclusionEA can suppress nociceptive discharges of spinal DHs WDR neurons in rats. The inhibitory impact of EA is strongly correlated with the location and intensity of EA stimulation, and EA2 mA has a stronger inhibitory effect than EA1 mA.

      摘要:ObjectiveTo observe effects of acupuncture at “Die E acupoint” on the protein expression levels of Toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4), myeloid differentiation factor 88 (MyD88), nuclear transcription factor κB (NF-κB), transcription factor T-bet (T-bet), and GATA-binding protein-3 (GATA-3) in the nasal mucosa and the serum contents of related inflammatory cytokines in rats with allergic rhinitis, so as to explore the mechanism of acupuncture in treating allergic rhinitis.MethodsTwenty-four healthy SD rats were randomly divided into blank, model, acupuncture, and sham acupuncture groups, with 6 rats in each group. The rat model of allergic rhinitis was established by using ovalbumin induction. The rats in the acupuncture group received bilateral acupuncture at the “Die E acupoint” with a depth of 15—20 mm, while the rats in the sham acupuncture group received only sham acupuncture (light and shallow acupunture of the skin at the “Die E acupoint” ). Both interventions were performed once daily for a total of 6 days. Behavioral scores of rats in each group were recorded. Pathological changes of nasal mucosa were observed by H.E. staining. Serum contents of IgE, ovalbumin-specific IgE (OVA-sIgE), interferon(IFN)-γ, interleukin(IL)-4, IL-10 and IL-17 were measured by ELISA and the protein expression levels of T-bet, GATA-3, TLR4, MyD88 and NF-κB p65 in the nasal mucosa were detected by Western blot.ResultsAfter modeling, compared with the blank group, rats in the model group showed increased behavioral scores, serum IgE, OVA-sIgE, IL-4, and IL-17 contents, and nasal mucosal GATA-3, TLR4, MyD88, and NF-κB p65 protein expression levels (P<0.05), whereas the contents of serum IFN-γ, IL-10 and the protein expression level of T-bet in the nasal mucosa were decreased (P<0.05). Comparison between the EA and model groups showed that acupuncture intervention can decrease the behavioral scores of rats with allergic rhinitis, the contents of serum IgE, OVA-sIgE, IL-4, IL-17, and the protein expression levels of GATA-3, TLR4, MyD88, and NF-κB p65 in the nasal mucosa (P<0.05), and up-regulate the contents of serum IFN-γ, IL-10, and the nasal mucosal T-bet protein expression level. Sham acupuncture did not have a significant modulating effect on the above indicators. Inflammatory infiltration of nasal mucosa was seen in the model group and sham acupuncture, and the inflammatory reaction was milder in the acupuncture group.ConclusionAcupuncture at “Die E acupoint” can alleviate the symptoms of allergic rhinitis and suppress the inflammation of nasal mucosa in rats, which may be related to inhibiting the TLR4/MyD88/NF-κB signaling and balancing the levels of cytokines of Th1/Th2 and Treg/Th17, and T-bet/GATA-3.

      摘要:ObjectiveTo observe the effect of electro-scalp acupuncture (ESA) on the expression of cytochrome P450a1/b1 (CYP27a1/b1), cytochrome P45024a (CYP24a), signal transducer and activator of transcription (STAT)4, STAT6, tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α), interleukin (IL)-1β and IL-4 in ischemic cerebral cortex of rats with acute ischemic stroke, so as to explore its mechanism in alleviating inflammatory reaction of ischemic stroke.MethodsSixty SD rats were randomly divided into sham-operation, model, vitamin D3 and ESA groups, with 15 rats in each group. The middle cerebral artery occlusion rat model was established with thread ligation according to Zea-Longa’s method. Rats in the vitamin D3 group were given 1,25-VitD3 solution (3 ng·100 g-1·d-1) by gavage, once daily for 7 days. Rats in the ESA group were treated at bilateral anterior parietotemporal slash (MS6) with ESA (2 Hz/100 Hz, 1 mA), 30 min a day for 7 days. Before and after interventions, the neurological deficit score and neurobehavioral score were evaluated. TTC staining was used to detect the volume of cerebral infarction in rats. The positive expressions of CYP24a, CYP27a1 and CYP27b1 in the cerebral cortex of ischemic area were detected by immunofluorescence. The mRNA expressions of STAT4 and STAT6 in the cerebral cortex of ischemic area were detected by quantitative real-time PCR. The protein expression levels of TNF-α, IL-1β and IL-4 in the cerebral cortex of ischemic area were detected by Western blot.ResultsCompared with the sham-operation group, the neurological deficit score, neurobehavioral score, the percentage of cerebral infarction volume, the positive expression level of CYP24a and mRNA expression level of STAT4, protein expression levels of TNF-α and IL-1β in cerebral cortex were increased (P<0.01), while the positive expression levels of CYP27a1/b1 and STAT6 mRNA, protein expression level of IL-4 were decreased (P<0.01) in the model group. After the treatment and compared with the model group, the neurological deficit score, neurobehavioral score, the percentage of cerebral infarction volume, the positive expression level of CYP24a and mRNA expression level of STAT4, protein expression levels of TNF-α and IL-1β in cerebral cortex were decreased (P<0.01), while the positive expression levels of CYP27a1/b1 and STAT6 mRNA expression level, protein expression level of IL-4 were increased (P<0.01) in the ESA and vitamin D3 groups.ConclusionESA can alleviate the inflammatory response in ischemic stroke, which maybe related to its function in regulating the balance between CYP27a1/b1 and CYP24a, converting vitamin D into active vitamin D3, inhibiting vitamin D3 degradation, and regulating Th1/Th2 balance.

      摘要:ObjectiveTo investigate the effect of Peitu Yimu(strengthening spleen and soothing liver) acupuncture on intestinal mucosal barrier function and corticotropin-releasing factor (CRF)/CRF receptor 1 (CRFR1) pathway in rats with diarrhea-predominant irritable bowel syndrome (IBS-D), so as to explore its underlying mechanism in alleviating IBS-D.MethodsForty female SD rats were randomly divided into blank, model, electroacupuncture (EA), and agonist groups, with 10 rats in each group. Except for the blank group, rats in the other groups were given folium sennae infusion by gavage combined with chronic unpredictable mild stress to establish IBS-D model. Rats in the EA group received acupuncture at “Tianshu”(ST25) and EA at “Zusanli”(ST36) and “Taichong”(LR3) (2 Hz/15 Hz) on one side for 20 min, with the side chosen alternately every other day, for 14 days after modeling. Rats in the agonist group received acupuncture 30 min after intravenous injection of CRFR1 agonist urocortin, with the same manipulation method and time as the EA group. Before and after intervention, visceral pain threshold and stool Bristol scores were measured. Elevated plus maze test and open field test were used to detect anxiety and depression like behavior of rats. ELISA was used to detect the contents of CRF and CRFR1 in rats serum. Immunohistochemistry was used to detect the positive expressions of CRF, CRFR1, zonula occludens protein 1(ZO-1), occlusal protein(Occludin), and closure protein 1 (Claudin-1) in colon tissue.ResultsCompared with the blank group, the visceral pain threshold, open arm time percentage (OT%), total distance of movement in the open field test, and positive expression of ZO-1, Occludin, and Claudin-1 in colon were decreased (P<0.01,P<0.05), while Bristol stool scores, serum CRF and CRFR1 contents, and positive expressions of CRF and CRFR1 in colon were increased (P<0.01) in the model group. After intervention and compared with the model group, the visceral pain threshold, OT%, total distance of movement in the open field test, and positive expressions of ZO-1, Occludin, and Claudin-1 in colon were increased (P<0.05, P<0.01), while Bristol stool scores, serum CRF and CRFR1 contents, and positive expressions of CRF and CRFR1 in colon were decreased (P<0.01) in the EA group; the Bristol stool scores, serum CRF content, and CRF positive expression in colon were significantly decreased in the agonist group (P<0.01).ConclusionPeitu Yimu acupuncture can significantly improve visceral hypersensitivity and anxiety-depression state in IBS-D rats. Its mechanism may be related to the inhibition of CRF/CRFR1 pathway and restoration of intestinal tight junction protein expressions.

      摘要:ObjectiveTo observe the activation state and neuronal types of somatosensory cortex and the primary motor cortex induced by electroacupuncture (EA) stimulation of “Sibai” (ST2) and “Quanliao” (SI18) acupoints in mice.MethodsMale C57BL/6J mice were randomly divided into blank control and EA groups, with 6 mice in each group. Rats of the EA group received EA stimulation (2 Hz, 0.6 mA) at ST2 and SI18 for 30 minutes. Samples were collected after EA intervention, and immunofluorescence staining was performed to quantify the expression of the c-Fos gene (proportion of c-Fos positive cells) in the somatosensory cortex and primary motor cortex. The co-labelled cells of calcium/calmodulin-dependent protein kinase Ⅱ (CaMKⅡ) and gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) in the somatosensory cortex and primary motor cortex were observed and counted by using microscope after immunofluorescence staining. Another 10 mice were used to detect the calcium activity of excitatory neurons in the somatosensory cortex and primary motor cortex by fiber photometry.ResultsIn comparison with the blank control group, the number of c-Fos positive cells, and the proportion of c-Fos and CaMKⅡ co-labelled cells in both the somatosensory cortex and primary motor cortex were significantly increased after EA stimulation (P<0.05). No significant changes were found in the proportion of c-Fos and GABA co-labeled cells in both the somatosensory cortex and primary motor cortex after EA. Results of fiber optic calcium imaging technology showed that the spontaneous calcium activity of excitatory neurons in both somatosensory cortex and primary motor cortex were obviously increased during EA compared with that before EA (P<0.01), and strikingly reduced after cessation of EA compared with that during EA (P<0.05).ConclusionUnder physiological conditions, EA of ST2 and SI18 can effectively activate excitatory neurons in the somatosensory cortex and primary motor cortex.

      摘要:ObjectiveTo observe the effect of electroacupuncture(EA) on endometrial fibrosis and M1-type macrophages in rats with intrauterine adhesions(IUA), so as to explore the possible mechanism of EA in the treatment of IUA.MethodsFifteen female SD rats were randomly divided into blank group, model group and EA group, with 5 rats in each group. The IUA rat model was established by double damage method using mechanical scraping combined with lipopolysaccharide infection. Rats in the EA group were treated with acupuncture at “Guanyuan”(CV4), and EA at bilateral “Zusanli”(ST36) and “Sanyinjiao”(SP6)for 20 minutes each time, once a day, for 3 consecutive cycles of estrus. Five rats in each group were sampled during the estrous period, and the endometrial morphology, endometrial thickness and the number of blood vessels and glands were observed after HE staining. The fibrotic area of the uterus was observed after Masson staining. The positive expressions of Runt-related transcription factor(RUNX1), transforming growth factor-β1(TGF-β1), connective tissue growth factor(CTGF), α-smooth muscle actin(α-SMA), collagen type I(Col-Ⅰ), cluster of differentiation 86(CD86), interleukin-1β(IL-1β), and tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α) in endometrial tissue were detected by immunohistochemistry. Western blot was used to detect relative protein expressions of RUNX1, TGF-β1, α-SMA, CD86, and TNF receptor 2 (TNFR2), and real-time fluorescence quantitative PCR was used to detect mRNA expressions of RUNX1, TGF-β1, α-SMA, CD86, and TNF-α in the endometrium.ResultsDuring the estrous phase, the endometrial layer in the model group was damaged, with reduced folds, disordered arrangement of epithelial cells, loose fibrous connective tissue, significant narrowing and adhesions in the uterine cavity, interstitial congestion, edema, and a significant infiltration of inflammatory cells with sparse glands. While uterine tissue structure of the EA group was basically intact, resembling a normal uterus, with more newly formed glands and a small amount of inflammatory cell infiltration. In comparison with the blank group, the endometrial thickness, the number of blood vessels, and the number of glands were significantly decreased(P<0.001) in the model group, while the ratio of uterine fibrosis area, the positive expressions of RUNX1, TGF-β1, CTGF, α-SMA, Col-Ⅰ, CD86, IL-1β, and TNF-α, the protein relative expressions of RUNX1, TGF-β1, α-SMA, CD86 and TNFR2, and the mRNA relative expression levels of RUNX1, TGF-β1, α-SMA, CD86 and TNF-α in the endometrium were significantly increased (P<0.001, P<0.01). Compared to the model group, the endometrial thickness, the number of blood vessels, and the number of glands were significantly increased(P<0.01, P<0.05) in the EA group, while the ratio of uterine fibrosis area, the positive expressions of RUNX1, TGF-β1, CTGF, α-SMA, Col-Ⅰ, CD86, IL-1β and TNF-α in the endometrial tissue, the protein expressions of RUNX1, TGF-β1, α-SMA, CD86 and TNFR2, and the mRNA relative expressions of RUNX1, TGF-β1, α-SMA, CD86 and TNF-α in the endometrium were significantly decreased (P<0.001, P<0.01, P<0.05).ConclusionEA can improve endometrial fibrosis in IUA rats, which may be related to its function in decreasing the level of endometrial M1-type macrophages and the secretion of related inflammatory factors.

      摘要:ObjectiveTo observe the effect of mind-regulating acupuncture on pain intensity, sleep quality, negative emotion in patients with postherpetic neuralgia (PHN), and evaluate the clinical effect of mind-regulating acupuncture combined with surrounding needling and heavy moxibustion at Ashi points (Extra) in treatment of PHN.MethodsThe patients with PHN were randomly divided into a control group (35 cases, 2 cases dropped out) and a comprehensive therapy group (35 cases). The patients in the control group were treated with surrounding needling and heavy moxibustion at Ashi points. In the comprehensive therapy group, the mind-regulating acupuncture therapy was delivered besides the treatment as the control group. The treatment was given once daily, one course of treatment was composed of 6 days and 2 courses were required in the 2 groups. Before and after treatment, the pain conditions were assessed using pain rating index (PRI), visual analogue scale (VAS) and present pain intensity (PPI), the negative emotions were assessed using Hamilton anxiety scale (HAMA) and Hamilton depression scale (HAMD), and the sleep quality with Pittsburgh sleep quality index (PSQI). One week before and one week after treatment, the average sleep time was recorded. The therapeutic effect of 2 groups was evaluated. The effective cases of 2 groups were followed up in 2 months after treatment completion and the recurrence of neuralgia was recorded.ResultsThere were no statistical differences in the above indicators between the 2 groups before treatment. After 2 courses of treatment, the scores of PRI, VAS, PPI, HAMA, HAMD and PSQI were reduced when compared with those before treatment in the patients of the 2 groups (P<0.05), and the average sleep time was increased (P<0.05). The scores of PRI, VAS, PPI, HAMA, HAMD and PSQI in the comprehensive therapy group, as well as the average sleep time were all improved when compared with those of the control group (P<0.05). The total effective rate in the comprehensive therapy group (34/35, 97.14%) was higher than that of the control group (27/33, 81.82%, P<0.05) and the recurrence rate was lower ([2/34, 5.88%]vs[8/27, 29.63%], P<0.05).ConclusionThe combination of mind-regulating acupuncture with surrounding needling and heavy moxibustion at Ashi acupoint can effectively relieve PHN. Compared with the traditional surrounding acupuncture in pain area combined with moxibustion at Ashi points, this comprehensive therapy is more effective for ameliorating pain intensity, improving sleep quality and reducing negative emotions. It is also effective for declining the recurrence.

      摘要:ObjectiveTo observe the effect of scalp-abdominal acupuncture combined with donepezil hydrochloride on cognition and life ability of patients with Alzheimer’s disease (AD), so as to evaluate its clinical efficacy.MethodsSixty AD patients were collected and randomly divided into control group (30 cases) and observation group (30 cases). Patients in the control group were treated with oral donepezil hydrochloride (5 mg, once daily). Patients in the observation group were treated with scalp-abdominal acupuncture at Baihui (GV20), Yintang (GV24+), Sishencong (EX-HN1), “emotional area”, Shenting (GV24), “abdominal area 1”“abdominal area 8”, and bilateral Fengchi (GB20), Taixi (KI3), Xuanzhong (GB39), Zusanli (ST36) on the basis of control group, and electroacupuncture (10 Hz/50 Hz, 0.5 to 5.0 mA) was applied to EX-HN1, “emotional area”“abdominal area 1” and “abdominal area 8”, once daily, 30 min each time. Four weeks as a course of treatment, both the two groups were treated for two consecutive courses. Before and after treatment, the mini-mental state examination (MMSE), AD assessmennt scale-cognitive subscale (ADAS-Cog) and activity of daily living scale (ADL) were evaluated. The clinical efficacy index was calculated and safety was evaluated.ResultsAfter treatment, the MMSE and ADL scores were higher (P<0.05) and the ADAS-Cog score was lower (P<0.05) than those before treatment in both groups. Compared with the control group, the MMSE and ADL scores were increased (P<0.05) and ADAS-Cog score was decreased (P<0.05) in the observation group. The total effective rate of the observation group (26/30, 86.67%) was higher (P<0.05) than that of the control group (23/30, 76.67%). No adverse reactions occurred in both groups during the treatment.ConclusionScalp-abdominal acupuncture combined with donepezil hydrochloride can effectively improve the cognitive ability and daily living ability of AD patients, and the efficacy is better than that of oral donepezil hydrochloride alone.

      摘要:ObjectiveTo explore the therapeutic effect of Fu’s subcutaneous needling at myofascial trigger points (MTrPs) on pain, lumbar mobility and the quality of life in patients with lumbar disc herniation (LDH), so as to provide clinicians with new ideas and methods in treating LDH.MethodsOne hundred patients with LDH admitted to department of rehabilitation medicine of the affiliated hospital of Chengdu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine from January 2022 to January 2023 were collected as the subjects, and they were randomly divided into an observation group and a control group, 50 cases in each one. In the observation group, the spreading technique of Fu’s subcutaneous needling was delivered at MTrP. In the control group, the routine acupuncture was applied to Shenshu (BL23), Weizhong (BL40) and MTrP. The treatment was given 3 times weekly, for 2 weeks in the two groups. The score of visual analogue scale (VAS) was evaluated before treatment, at the moment after the 1st treatment completion and after 2 weeks of treatment, separately, and the inclinometer was adopted to measure the range of motion (ROM) of the lumbar flexion, extension and lateral flexion. The numbers of MTrPs and their distribution were recorded before treatment and after the completion of a 2-week treatment in the two groups. Before treatment and in 4 weeks of follow-up, using SF-36 scale, the score of the quality of life was evaluated. The incidence of adverse effects was recorded.ResultsAt the moment of the 1st treatment completion and after 2 weeks of treatment, VAS score and ROM of the lumbar region were significantly improved in comparison with those before treatment in the two groups and the improvement was superior in the observation group compared with the control group (P<0.05,P<0.01). After 2 weeks of treatment, the total number of MTrPs and the counts of MTrPs in each muscle zone were reduced when compared with those before treatment (P<0.05). In the observation group, the total number of MTrPs and numbers of MTrPs in the zones of quadratus lumborum, musculi multifidus and musculi iliocostalis lumborum decreased significantly when compared with the control group (P<0.05), while the difference was not significant in the numbers in the zone of musculi glutaeus medius between the two groups. In 4 weeks of follow-up, the scores of SF-36 scale were improved in comparison with those before treatment in each group and the result in the observation was better (P<0.05). No any adverse events occurred during treatment in the two groups.ConclusionFu’s subcutaneous needling is effective for reducing the numbers of MTrPs and improving analgesia, ROM of the lumbar region, as well as the long-term quality of life in the patients with LDH.

      摘要:Acupuncture treatment for depression has definite therapeutic efficacy, and its mechanism has been extensively studied. The extracellular regulatory protein kinase(ERK) signaling pathway is involved in the development and progression of depression. This article reviewed and summarized the research progress on the regulation of the ERK signaling pathway by acupuncture in the treatment of depression in recent years, focusing on the physiological activation and regulatory mechanism of the ERK signaling pathway, its association with the occurrence of depression, and the mechanisms through which acupuncture activates the ERK signaling pathway to treat depression (including enhancing neuronal synaptic plasticity, promoting the release of neurotrophic factors, and inhibiting neuronal apoptosis). Future research could explore the relationship between the ERK pathway and other pathways, investigate other brain regions besides the prefrontal cortex and hippocampus, examine differences in regulatory mechanisms between male and female patients, assess the effects of different acupuncture techniques on the ERK pathway, and increase efforts to explore mechanism of synaptic plasticity regulation, so as to provide reference for the clinical application and mechanism sludy of acupuncture in depression treatment.

      摘要:Lumbar intervertebral disc herniation (LDH) is a common and frequently-occurring disease, which usually causes lumbar and leg pain. Studies have shown that acupuncture can improve the symptoms of LDH patients. In the present paper, we summarize the progress of researches on the mechanisms of acupuncture underlying improvement of symptoms of LDH in recent 10 years from 1) delaying the intervertibral disc degeneration (by down-regulating the expressions of matrix metalloproteinase [MMP]-3 and MMP-4, up-regulating the expressions of diosaccharides and polyglycoprotein, inhibiting apoptosis and promoting mitochondrial autophagy of nucleus pulposus cells, etc.), 2) maintaining spinal column stability (by relieving rachiasmus and improving lumbar flexor and extensor muscle strength, lowering the degree of polyfidus edema and fat infiltration, and restoring the biomechanics of the spine), 3) regulating inflammation (by inhibiting the production of proinflammatory factors and increasing the production of anti-inflammatory factors, etc.), 4) regulating immune response (by promoting the activity of T cells and other immune cells, lowering serum levels of MMP-3, transforming growth factor-β1 and prostaglandin E2, raising serum levels of IgA, IgG and IgM to improve immune function ), 5) modulating neural structure and function (by promoting myelin regeneration of sciatic nerve fibers, and reducing the edema of Schwann cells’ cytoplasm and mitochondria, and improving neural ultrastructure, and sensory and motor functions of peripheral nerves, etc.), 6) relieving lumbar pain (by down-regulating expression of Ca2+/calmodulin-dependent protein kinase and activation of lumbar spinal cord glial cells, blocking nociceptive signal conduction, regulating the levels of pain-related factors, etc.), and 7) improving local microcirculation. These results may provide scientific evidence for acupuncture treatment of LDH.

      摘要:ObjectiveTo evaluate the efficacy and safety of ringheaded thrumbtack needle in the treatment of allergic rhinitis (AR).MethodsClinical studies about treatment of AR with ringheaded thrumbtack needle were searched from databases of CNKI, Wanfang, China Science and Technology Journal, China Biology Medicine disc, PubMed, Embase and Web of Science from their inception to November 2022. Two researchers independently screened the literature and collected related information. The total effective rate, visual analogue scale (VAS) for AR, rhinoconjunctivitis quality of life questionnaire (RQLQ), and recurrence rate were the main outcome indicators. Secondary outcome indicators included quantitative scores of symptoms and signs, ‘quartering’ symptom evaluation scale, etc. All the included studies were subjected to Meta-analysis using Stata software.ResultsA total of 22 clinical studies involving 1 491 participants were included. The results of Meta-analysis indicated that the total effective rate of ringheaded thrumbtack needle in the treatment of AR was higher than that of traditional Chinese and Western medicine [RR=1.20, 95%CI (1.14,1.26), P<0.001], and recurrence rate is lower than conventional therapy [OR=0.35, 95%CI (0.14,0.89), P=0.027]. Moreover, The VAS score [WMD=-1.30, 95%CI (-1.85,-0.75), P<0.001] and RQLQ score [WMD=-6.75,95%CI (-12.74,-0.76), P=0.027] of AR treated by ringheaded thrumbtack needle were lower than those of traditional Chinese and Western medicine.ConclusionRingheaded thrumbtack needle can improve the total effective rate, reduce the disease recurrence, and improve the symptoms of discomfort when AR outbreaks, and has no significant adverse reactions. However, the reliability is limited. Thus, it is still necessary to improve the level of evidence quality by including researches with large samples, rigorous design and international standards.

      摘要:In order to better promote the popularization and application of the national standard of Standardized Manipulations of Acupuncture and Moxibustion——Part 2: Scalp Acupuncture (GB/T 21709.2—2021), and to provide reference for the improvement and formulation of the next version, in the present paper, the differences about the position descriptions of two scalp acupuncture lines Dingnie Qianxiexian (anterior oblique line of vertex-temporal, MS6) and Dingpangxian 1 (lateral line 1 of vertex, MS8) between the new (GB/T 21709.2—2021) and old (GB/T 21709.2—2008) versions of the national standards as well as the International Standard Proposal of Scalp Acupuncture Point were compared, and the disputes still existing in the 2021 version were discussed. Although the 2021 version has made relevant amendments in some controversial or non-standard contents in the 2008 version, there are still some inappropriate contents. Firstly, only the relevant revision in the attached figure 3 was mentioned in the preface, without mention of the word revision about MS6 in both English and Chinese, but actually “Chengguang” (BL6) has been changed to “Tongtian” (BL7). Secondly, The attached figure does not match the word description. There is a revision in the attached figure and text at the same time, in which the text description of Qianding (GV21) of the MS6 has not been revised, but the front Shencong (EX-HN1) in the attached figure has been changed to GV21, which is obviously inconsistent with the positioning of the MS6 according to the WHO international standard, and the basis for the revision is not known. These revisions of the 2021 version of national standard on the position of the two scalp acupoint lines in the 2008 version are inconsistent, which may make many colleagues in the acupuncture field confused. Thus, further revision is necessary.
