      摘要:This paper briefly reviewed the scientific research on acupuncture over the past 70 years, providing a deep analysis of the research trajectory and current status of meridians, acupoints, and needling techniques. The inheritance, innovation, and development of acupuncture should be centered around the discipline’s intrinsic characteristics, systematically elucidating the essence and scientific value within traditional acupuncture and moxibustion theories while objectively and comprehensively presenting its theoretical framework. A thorough exploration of acupoint functions is essential, clarifying the target-organ regulatory effects of acupoint specificity while emphasizing the systemic regulatory roles of acupoints and their universal effects. The regulatory principles of acupuncture and moxibustion should be systematically unveiled, focusing on the pivotal scientific question concerning the relationships among acupoint, the central nervous system, and peripheral organs. A multi-level analysis—from macroscopic to mesoscopic to microscopic—should be conducted to decipher acupuncture’s multi-system regulatory mechanisms. Research on the dose-effect relationship of key variables in acupuncture is imperative, with a focus on factors influencing therapeutic outcomes. Clinical studies should aim to establish a big data platform capable of analyzing the characteristics and trends of acupuncture and moxibustion efficacy. Basic research, through innovative paradigms, should delve into the relationship between these key variables and effects, as well as the underlying mechanisms. Accelerating clinical and equipment translation is crucial, bridging the gap between basic and clinical research. The development of non-invasive wearable smart devices is encouraged to establish a “bedside to bench to bedside” translational paradigm in acupuncture research.

    • On the bidirectional regulation effect of acupuncture AI导读

      摘要:The wisdom of Chinese medicine in maintaining health is “Yin Ping Yang Mi” (balance between yin and yang). Obviously, the maintenance of “homeostasis” contains dual factors of “excessiveness” and “falling short”. The life process must be protected by the stability-maintaining mechanism of the “bidirectional regulation” system. Therefore, the two-way regulation of the “homeostasis” maintaining involves the relatively independent potential energy of the “spear” and “shield”, and also depends on two sets of relatively independent regulatory systems to complete. Acupuncture is an excellent performer of the “bidirectional regulation effect” of living organisms, but can this effect be caused by a single acupoint stimulation?This issue, which was not a problem, has become a big problem in acupuncture-moxibustion discipline. The concept of “two-way regulation” of acupuncture is over-expanded, which is difficult for the theory of Chinese medicine to take into account. It is only a broad expansion of the boundary of theoretical extension arbitrarily. From the perspective of life science, the present paper expounds that the “bidirectional regulation effect” of acupuncture is obtained from the activation of the “integration center” (not necessarily limited to the brain) by the stimulated acupoints at different somatic parts of the body, and through two sets of relatively independent regulation systems, so as to maintain the life’s “homeostasis”.

    • Acupuncture-moxibustion analgesia: problems behind the hotspot AI导读

      摘要:Acupuncture-moxibustion analgesia is the field of acupuncture and moxibustion with the most extensive clinical application and the richest basic research achievements, which has helped the promotion and use of acupuncture medicine in 196 countries and regions around the world. However, throughout the current acupuncture analgesia field, whether it is clinical application or basic research, there are many problems behind the hotspots. The 11th edition of the International Classification of Diseases (ICD) changed the acupuncture analgesia from relieving symptoms to treating various diseases, which provided historical opportunities for the development of acupuncture analgesia, but also put forward new challenges. The field of acupuncture analgesia needs to make joint efforts in original theory, clinical research and basic research to promote the progress of subject of acupuncture and moxibustion. Acupuncture analgesia needs to clarify the understanding of “pain” in the basic theory of traditional Chinese medicine, and takes the “activating qi to relieve pain” as a new starting point to put forward a new original theory to guide clinical and basic research. Clinically, the indications of acupuncture analgesia need to be further expanded, the application rules of different acupuncture and moxibustion therapies need to be clarified, the clinical data of acupuncture analgesia should be more realistic. Basic research should serve to solve the clinical problems of acupuncture analgesia. While exploring the analgesic mechanism of acupuncture, the research on the intervention mechanism of primary diseases cannot be ignored. The exploration of central and peripheral mechanisms of acupuncture analgesia should be promoted simultaneously. All teams should strengthen cooperation to form a good evidence chain of acupuncture analgesia. With the joint efforts of all acupuncture-moxibustion practitioners, the scope of application of acupuncture analgesia will be wider, the curative effect will be better, the regularity of action will be clearer, the mechanism of action will be clearer, and it will continue to reach new peaks.

    • Acupoint sensitization: bond of disease diagnosis and therapy AI导读

      摘要:Acupoints, as sites on the body surface accepting acupuncture stimulation, were thought to have fixed locations, and it was very important for practitioners to select the exact points in clinical practice. The theory of acupoint sensitization breaks the solidification between acupoint location and functional indications, and innovatively proposes that the structure and function of acupoints change dynamically with the states of the body and diseases. From the perspective of diagnosis, acupoint sensitization is based on the segmental innervations between somato-visceral parts in the spinal cord. Acupoint sensitization is the changes in physical and chemical properties and the release of bio-active substances in situ underlying different visceral lesions, leading to hyperaesthesia of the acupoint area. Therapeutically, clinical practices such as searching tender points (Chuai Xue) or selecting pain points (Yi Tong Wei Shu) for acupuncture stimulation highlight the functional significance of sensitized acupoints as optimal treatment sites. However, the occurrence of sensitized acupoints varies among different persons and according to different pathological conditions, which is not contradictory to the existed guidance and acupuncture theory on acupoint selection in clinical practice. This is a deep thinking and scientific recognizing of the acupoints. Based on the previous studies on acupoint sensitization in our group, this article reviewed the principle and application of acupoint sensitization, and clarified the bond between the diagnosis and the therapeutics of visceral disorders via a profound exploration from the phenomenon to the essence.

      摘要:As the theoretical core of acupuncture and moxibustion of traditional Chinese medicine, the meridian-collateral theory is an original medical theory unique to China, which embodies the wisdom of ancient Chinese medicine practitioners. The meridian-collateral phenomenon is the stepping-stone to success of meridian research, and most of its research ideas are based on finding a pipeline system along the meridian. Due to the fact that the anatomical basis of meridians has still not been made clear, there are many meridian-collateral phenomena reported, but they generally have many problems such as low occurrence rate, poor repeatability, poor specificity, and lack of clear effects of acupuncture, resulting in many controversies in the study. It is well-known that “the meridians connect with the Zang- and Fu-organs in the interior and the four limbs in the exterior”, implying the specific relationship between the meridians, body surface (somatic part) and the internal organs, which plays an important guiding role in the selection of acupoints along meridians and the differentiation of meridians in clinical practice, being the core and value of the meridian-collateral theory. The interconnection between different somatic parts of the body is a universal biological phenomenon, and the relationship between the somatic and somatic parts, and between the somatic part and internal organs has also been extensively expounded in modern medicine. If these research results are introduced into the study of meridians, it will further enrich, perfect and develop the theory of meridian-collaterals.

      摘要:In the past two decades, the domestic academic community of acupuncture and moxibustion has made some progress in anatomical and morphological characteristics of acupoints, as well as regulatory patterns and underlying mechanisms of needling at different acupoints. However, the developments of basic theory, clinical and scientific research are not balanced and lack of synergy, which has failed to form an internal driving force to promote the high-quality development of the discipline. On the basis of this “internal cause”, with the increasing attention of international scholars to acupuncture and acupoints, “external causes” such as disciplinary background gaps, scientific cognitive modes and cultural differences further highlight the shortcomings and drawbacks in the construction of the modern theory of acupuncture and acupoints, and questions such as “detheorizing” and “discarding acupoints and storing needles” continue to emerge. To fundamentally answer such questions, we should take the key scientific issues such as “the key anatomical structure of acupoints” and “the specific and general regulation of acupoints” as the guide, promote the reconstruction and modern expression of traditional theories of acupuncture and moxibustion, formulate corresponding clinical control plans and evaluation standards for specific clinical problems and limited goals, carry out organized and purposeful basic and translational research on acupoints, establish a new format of “intra-disciplinary linkage and inter-disciplinary cooperation”, so as to deeply reveal the anatomical structure basis of precise acupoint stimulation, elucidate the full view of characteristics of acupoint effects, explore the multi-target regulation and systems biology mechanisms of acupoints, build a contemporary acupuncture and moxibustion discipline system that keeps pace with the times, and lead the direction of acupuncture and moxibustion’s international development.

      摘要:As one of China’s most internationally influential original disciplines, acupuncture-moxibustion has a development history of over 2 000 years. The formation of its early theoretical framework was shaped by contemporaneous technological advancements. This article provided a systematic review of the history of modern acupuncture research, highlighting how early electrophysiological and biochemical techniques validated the objective effects of acupuncture-moxibustion, and, since the 1950s, how studies have elucidated acupuncture’s analgesic mechanisms, meridian phenomena, acupoint-visceral organ correlations, and patterns of acupoint efficacy. It emphasized the role of contemporaneous technologies-ranging from systemic, organic approaches down to cellular, molecular, and genetic methods in advancing modern acupuncture-moxibustion research. The article also prospected that the application of emerging technologies such as single-cell sequencing, spatial transcriptomics, neuroimaging, artificial intelligence, and interdisciplinary medicine-engineering integration would play an important role in future acupuncture-moxibustion studies, and stresseed that technology should be applied in a scientifically driven, problem‑oriented manner rather than through mere technical accumulation.

      摘要:The quantitative research on acupuncture manipulation techniques aims to transform traditional empirical operations into measurable parameters through interdisciplinary technologies. This paper comprehensively reviewed the biomechanical foundations and technological evolution of acupuncture manipulation quantification research. It delved into upgrades in biomechanical parameter collection, breakthroughs in analytical methods, and innovations and applications from computer vision, deep learning, and multimodal perception fusion. Looking ahead, the paper explored deepening multimodal fusion, construction of big data expert databases, and intelligent clinical applications. It proposed that through multidisciplinary technological integration, a digital acupuncture theory system with characteristics of traditional Chinese medicine can be established. These breakthroughs will promote the transformation of acupuncture from empirical practice to data-driven precision medicine, providing theoretical and technological foundations for modernization and international standardization of traditional Chinese medicine.

      摘要:The holistic philosophy of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) embodied in acupuncture therapy has gained novel insights within the neuroimmune regulatory framework. Its mechanistic framework encompasses 3 pivotal dimensions: 1) Acupuncture stimulation at acupoints transduces mechanical signals into neuroelectrical and biochemical signals, initiating localized immunomodulatory microenvironment remodeling; 2) The autonomic nervous system orchestrates systemic and organ-specific immune homeostasis through vagus nerve-mediated anti-inflammatory effects and sympathetic nerve-mediated bidirectional regulatory dynamics; 3) The enteric nervous system facilitates barrier restoration via neuropeptide-microbiota crosstalk, establishing bidirectional gut-brain axis immune communication. Emerging bioelectronic devices based on somatosensory-autonomic reflex circuits are driving the evolution of acupuncture from empirical practice to precision neuromodulation. Future research should integrate multi-omics profiling and artificial intelligence algorithms to construct a comprehensive “mechanical stimulation–neural coding–immune response” mapping paradigm. This will operationalize TCM’s core principle of “treating the root of disease” into targeted neuromodulation strategies against inflammatory and immune-related disorders through defined neural circuit interventions.

      摘要:ObjectiveTo observe the effect of electroacupuncture (EA) on lipid metabolism and cyclic adenosine monophosphate-dependent protein kinase A (PKA)/cyclic adenosine monophosphate-responsive element binding protein (CREB) signalling pathway in obese rats, so as to explore its possible mechanism in promoting browning of white fat in obese rats.MethodsForty 8-week-old male SD rats were randomly divided into blank, model and EA groups (n=10 per group). The obesity model was established by feeding the rats with high-fat diet for 12 weeks. For the EA group, EA (2 Hz/15 Hz, 1.5 mA) was applied to “Zhongwan” (CV12), “Guanyuan” (CV4) and bilateral “Tianshu” (ST25) and “Fenglong” (ST40) for 20 min, once a day, 6 days a week for 6 weeks. After the treatment, the body weight, body length and abdominal circumference of rats were evaluated, and Lee’s index was calculated. The weight of inguinal white adipose tissue, epididymal white adipose tissue, white adipose tissue and scapular brown adipose tissue of rats were weighed. The contents of serum total cholesterol (TC), triglyceride (TG), high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) were measured by the microplate method. HE staining was used to detect the morphology of inguinal white adipose tissue and scapular brown adipose tissue. Western blot was used to detect the expression levels of PKA, CREB, phosphorylated (p)-CREB, mitochondrial uncoupling protein 1 (UCP1), peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor γ-coactivator 1-α (PGC-1α) and sterol regulatory element binding protein 1 (SREBP-1) and immunohistochemistry was used to dectect the positive expressions of PKA、 CREB、 p-CREB、 UCP1、PGC-1α in inguinal white adipose tissue and scapular brown adipose tissue. The mRNA expressions of UCP1, PGC-1α, PR domain-containing protein 16 (PRDM16), peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor gamma (PPARγ), cytochrome c oxidase subunit 7a1 (Cox7a1), cytochrome c oxidase subunit 8b (Cox8b), iodothyronine deiodinase 2 (DIO2), ELOVL3 fatty acid elongase 3 (ELOVL3), cell death-inducing DFFA-like effector a (Cidea), T-box transcription factor 1 (Tbx1), transmembrane protein 26 (Tmem26), and 4-1BB receptor (CD137) in the inguinal white adipose tissue and interscapular brown adipose tissue of rats from various groups were detected by quantitative real-time PCR.ResultsCompared with the blank group, the body weight, abdominal circumference, Lee's index, TG, TC and LDL-C contents, white fat mass in the inguinal, epididymal and perirenal regions, and SREBP-1 protein expression were significantly increased in the model group (P<0.001, P<0.01); whereas brown fat mass in the scapular region, serum HDL-C content, PKA, p-CREB, UCP1, PGC-1α protein expression, as well as mRNA expressions of browning-related genes such as UCP1, PGC-1α, and PRDM16 were significantly decreased (P<0.001, P<0.01, P<0.05). H.E. staining showed an increase of the volume of white adipose tissues, disordered arrangement of cells with vague boundary, meanwhile an enlarge of vacuoles and an increase volume of brown adipose tissues, present white adipocyte-like changes in the model group. Compared with the model group, EA can effectively improve the above indicators of lipid metabolism and white fat browning (P<0.01, P<0.001, P<0.05), and reverse the morphology of adipose tissues in the obese rats.ConclusionEA can effectively reduce the body weight and improve lipid metabolism in obesity rats, which is possibly associated with its functions in activating the PKA/CREB signalling pathway, up-regulating the white fat browning markers UCP1 and PGC-1α protein expressions and white fat browning-related genes, and down-regulating the expression of the lipid regulatory protein SREBP-1.

      摘要:ObjectiveTo observe the effect of electroacupuncture (EA) at “Tianshu” (ST25) on colonic inflammatory response in mice with ulcerative colitis (UC), so as to explore its underlying mechanisms in anti-inflammatory.MethodsIn the first part of this study, 36 male C57BL/6J mice were randomly divided into normal, model, and EA groups (12 mice/group) according to their body weight. The UC mouse model was established by 3% dextran sulfate sodium (DSS) solution by free drinking for 7 consecutive days. EA (2 mA, 10 Hz) was applied to ST25 for 30 min, once daily on the 1st, 3rd, 5th and 7th day. The body weight and colon length of mice were measured. HE staining was used to observe the pathological changes of colon tissue. The contents of interleukin (IL) -1, IL-6, tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) and chemokine ligand 1 (CXCL-1) in colon tissue were observed by MSD multiplex. In the second part of this study, 9 mice were assigned to the normal, model and EA groups (3 mice/group). The UC model was established by free drinking of 3% DSS solution for 5 consecutive days. EA (2 mA, 10 Hz) was applied to ST25 for 20 min on the 5th day. Immunofluorescence staining was used to detect the co-expression of ChAT+c-Fos in the dorsal vagal nucleus ( DMV ), T13—L1 segment of spinal cord and S2—S4 segment of sacral spinal cord.Results(1) Compared with the normal group, colon length and body weight were decreased (P<0.001) in mice of the model group, while the pro-inflammatory factors IL-1, IL-6, TNF-α and CXCL1 were significantly increased (P<0.01, P<0.001). Compared with the model group, colon length and body weight were increased (P<0.001) in mice of the EA group, while the contents of pro-inflammatory factors IL-6 and CXCL1 were decreased (P<0.01, P<0.05). H.E. staining showed severe damage of the colonic tissue with infiltration of a large number of inflammatory cells in the model group, which was milder in EA group. (2) Compared with the normal group, there was no significant difference in the expression levels of c-Fos in ChAT-positive neurons in the DMV region, and the lateral horns of T13—L1 and S2—S4 spinal cord in the model group. After the EA intervention, the expression levels of c-Fos in ChAT-positive neurons in the T13—L1 and S2—S4 lateral horns of the spinal cord were significantly increased compared with the model group (P<0.001, P<0.05).ConclusionEA at ST25 can effectively alleviate the inflammatory lesions and down-regulate the levels of pro-inflammatory cytokines in UC mice, which may be related to the activation of segmental sympathetic and/or sacral parasympathetic nervous innervating the colon, instead of the activation of descending vagal nerves.

      摘要:ObjectiveTo observe the effect of electroacupuncture (EA) on the permeability of blood-brain-barrier (BBB) and the regulation of the wingless-type mouse mammary tumor virus integration site 7a (Wnt7a)/β-catenin/glycogen synthase kinase-3β (GSK-3β) pathway in Parkinson’s disease (PD) mice.MethodsThirty C57 BL/6 mice were randomly divided into normal, model and EA groups, with 10 mice in each group. The PD model was established by intraperitoneal injection of 1-methyl-4-phenyl-1,2,3,6-tetrahydropyridine (MPTP, 30 mg/kg), once daily for 7 days. In the EA group, acupuncture was applied to “Fengfu”(GV16), EA was applied to bilateral “Taichong”(LR3) and “Zusanli”(ST36) for 30 min, once daily for 7 days. The autonomic motor activity of mice in each group were observed by open-field test. The expression of tyrosine hydroxylase (TH) in substantia nigra was determined by immunohistochemistry. The permeability of BBB was detected by Evans blue staining. The expressions of Zona Occludens 1 (ZO-1), Occludin, Claudin-5, Wnt7a, β-catenin and p-GSK-3β in substantia nigra were detected by Western blot. The positive cell expression of Wnt7a in substantia nigra was detected by immunofluorescence.ResultsCompared with the normal group, the behavioural score was increased (P<0.01), the total time of autonomic movement, the total distance and the average speed were decreased (P<0.01), the expression of TH in substantia nigra, the protein expressions of ZO-1, Occludin, Claudin-5, Wnt7a, β-catenin were down-regulated (P<0.01), the positive cell rate of Wnt7a was decreased (P<0.01) in the model group, while p-GSK-3β protein express and the content of Evans blue was increased (P<0.01). After EA intervention and compared with the model group, the behavioural score was decreased (P<0.01), the total time of autonomic movement, the total distance and the average speed were increased (P<0.01), the expressions of TH, ZO-1, Occludin, Claudin-5, Wnt7a and β-catenin were all up-regulated (P<0.01), the positive cell rate of Wnt7a was increased (P<0.01), while p-GSK-3β protein express and the content of Evans blue was decreased (P<0.01) in the EA group.ConclusionEA can effectively improve the motor dysfunction of PD mice, reduce the damage of dopaminergic neurons, and play a neuroprotective role. These effects may be associated with the up-regulation of tight junction proteins ZO-1, Occludin and Claudin-5, the regulation of key proteins in the Wnt7a / β-catenin / GSK-3β pathway, and the improvement of BBB permeability.

      摘要:ObjectiveTo observe the clinical efficacy of auricular acupuncture combined with intermittent catheterization on urethral sphincter overactivity in patients with neurogenic bladder (NB) after spinal cord injury (SCI).MethodsA total of 90 patients with SCI were randomly divided into an auricular acupuncture group, an intermittent catheterization group and a combined treatment group, 30 cases in each group. All the patients in the three groups received the basic rehabilitation nursing and normal rehabilitation training. Additionally, in the auricular acupuncture group, auricular acupuncture was applied to “Spleen” (CO13), “Kidney” (CO10), “Bladder” (CO9) and “Subcortex” (AT4). In the intermittent catheterization group, the intermittent catheterization was operated. In the combined treatment group, the auricular acupuncture and the intermittent catheterization were delivered in combination. In the auricular acupuncture and the combined treatment group, the needles were retained for 1 h, once daily. One course of treatment was composed of 6 d and 4 courses were required. At the baseline and after interventions, the maximum urethral pressure (MUP), the residual urine volume (RU), the case number of urethral sphincter opening, the case number of vesicoureteral reflux, the number of white blood cells in urine, the case number of bladder function balance and traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) syndrome score were compared, with clinical efficacy evaluated.ResultsCompared with the baseline, MUP, RU, the case number of urethral sphincter opening, the case number of vesicoureteral reflux, the number of white blood cells in urine, the case number of bladder function balance, and TCM symptom score were improved in the combined treatment group after 4 weeks of treatment (P<0.05); and the therapeutic effects of the above indicators except the number of white blood cells in urine and TCM symptom score were improved more significantly when compared with the auricular acupuncture group and the intermittent catheterization group (P<0.05). In the auricular acupuncture group, MUP, RU, the case number of urethral sphincter opening, the case number of vesicoureteral reflux, the case number of bladder function balance and TCM symptom score were ameliorated in comparison with the baseline (P<0.05); while in the intermittent catheterization group, the improvements were obtained in the RU, the case number of urethral sphincter opening, the case number of vesicoureteral reflux, the case number of bladder function balance and the number of white blood cells in urine (P<0.05). The total effective rate in combined treatment group was significantly higher than that in auricular acupuncture group and intermittent catheterization group (P<0.05).ConclusionThe combination of auricular acupuncture and intermittent catheterization is clearly effective on overactivity of the urethral sphincter in the patients with NB after SCI. It can significantly reduce the MUP, the RU, and the incidence of urinary tract infections in the patients, regulate bladder balance status, and attenuate the symptoms of TCM.

      摘要:ObjectiveTo investigate the effects of electroacupuncture (EA) at Juliao (GB29) on lower limb motor function, balance function, and the gluteus medius contraction ratio and thickness in patients with stroke-related hemiplegia, as well as the correlation between the gluteus medius and lower limb motor function and balance function in these patients.MethodsA total of 68 patients with stroke-related hemiplegia were randomly divided into an observation group (34 cases, with 1 dropped out and 1 withdrawal) and a control group (34 cases, with 2 dropped out). The control group received conventional acupuncture in addition to standard medical treatment for their underlying conditions, along with rehabilitation training. The observation group received EA at GB29 on the hemiplegic side for 30 min per session, once daily, 5 times a week, over a total treatment duration of 4 weeks, based on the control group’s treatment. Before treatment, the correlation between the contraction ratio of the gluteus medius and the scores of the lower limb Fugl-Meyer Assessment (FMA) and the Berg Balance Scale (BBS) was analyzed. The thickness of the gluteus medius was measured, and the contraction ratio was calculated before treatment and 4 weeks after treatment. Assessments of the lower limb FMA and BBS scores were conducted before treatment, and 2 and 4 weeks after treatment.ResultsBefore treatment, the contraction ratio and thickness of the gluteus medius on the hemiplegic side were lower than those on the non-hemiplegic side in both groups (P<0.05). The gluteus medius contraction ratio before treatment demonstrated a positive correlation with the lower limb FMA and BBS scores (P<0.05). The gluteus medius contraction ratio and thickness on the hemiplegic side 4 weeks after treatment, as well as the lower limb FMA and BBS scores 2 and 4 weeks after treatment, were significantly higher than those before treatment in both groups (P<0.05). Furthermore, the observation group showed a greater contraction ratio of the gluteus medius, as well as higher FMA and BBS scores 4 weeks after treatment when compared with the control group (P<0.05).ConclusionThe level of gluteus medius activation is positively correlated with lower limb motor function and balance function in patients with stroke-related hemiplegia. EA at the GB29 effectively activates the gluteus medius on the hemiplegic side, providing a stability mechanism for the lumbopelvic-hip complex, thereby improving lower limb motor function and balance in patients with stroke.

      摘要:ObjectiveTo analyze the clinical effect of electroacupuncture (EA) at Erheliao (TE22) and Jianer (Extra) on subjective tinnitus in the acute phase.MethodsA total of 68 patients with subjective tinnitus were randomly divided into an observation group (34 cases, 1 case dropped out) and a control group (34 cases, 1 case dropped out). In the control group, the routine acupuncture was administrated. In the observation group, besides the regimen as the control group, EA was applied to TE22 and Jianer (Extra). In the two groups, the needles were retained for 30 min in each intervention, and the intervention was delivered once daily and 1 course of treatment was composed of 15 days; and two courses of treatment were required. Before and after intervention completion, the scores of tinnitus evaluation questionnaire (TEQ), visual analogue scale (VAS) for tinnitus and insomnia severity index (ISI) were observed. Using SF-36 quality of life assessment scale, the scores for physical health and mental health were evaluated. The clinical effect was calculated.ResultsAfter treatment, the scores of TEQ, VAS and ISI were decreased in the two groups compared with those before treatment (P<0.05). The scores of TEQ, VAS and ISI in the observation group were lower than those in the control group (P<0.05). When compared with the scores before treatment, the scores of physical health and mental health were increased after treatment in both groups (P<0.05), and there was no significant difference in the score of physical health between the two groups, but the score of mental health in the observation group was higher than that in the control group (P<0.05). The total effective rate was 87.9% (29/33) in the observation group and 72.7% (24/33) in the control group. The total effective rate in the observation group was superior to that of the control group (P<0.05).ConclusionEA at TE22 and Jianer (Extra) combined with routine acupuncure can better promote the recovery of tinnitus and improve the quality of lift and psychological health in the patients, presenting a satisfactory clinical effect.

      摘要:The theoretical foundation of acupuncture and moxibustion is solid to support the treatment of liver cancer and its related complications. A large number of clinical and basic studies have deliberated the therapeutic effects of acupuncture and moxibustion on liver cancer. The effects of acupuncture-moxibustion therapy were summarized in terms of controlling tumor lesion growth, alleviating cancer pain, reducing ascites production, attenuating immunosuppression, inhibiting angiogenesis in tumors, alleviating postoperative or chemotherapy-related side effects, and relieving cancer-related insomnia in this review. Some problems existing in the current researches were explained and the direction of future studies was explored.
