The present paper is divided into three paris. The regulatory effect of acupuncture on skin temperature has been discribed briefly in the first part.Many studies suggest that the acupuncture could increase skin temperature and its mechanism is due to an inhibition of sympa thetic activity and an increase in cutaneous circulation. The second part deals with regulatory effect of acupuncture on core temperature.The experimential and clincal studies suggest that the acupuncture could produce a fall in body temperature with bacterial and non-bacterial fever. At last

the mechanism of acupuncture hypothermia was discussed in this article.(1)The hypothermia induced by acupuncture was brought about by a decrease in metabolic rate and an increase in cutaneous circulation.(2)Acu- puncture could markedly promote the return of the discharge rate of the heat-sensitive and cold-sensitive neurons of the preoptic-anterior hypothalamus in the pyrogen treated animals.(3)Acupuncture could produce an increase of the Ca

content in cerebrospinal fluid (CSF)and a decreased of the cAMP and PGE_1 in CSF of animals with hyperthermia.So acupunture tends to decrease heat production and to increase heat loss and leads to hypothermia.
