The influence of intrathecal injection of Neurotensin (NT) and Anti NT serum (ANTS) on painthreshold
and electroacupuncture(EA) anslgesia in the rat was investigated. The tail-flick inducedby potassium iontophoresis was used to measure the pain threshold. The increase of pain thresholdwas observed within 100 min
after NT injection(2ug)
and it was more effective than that of theACSF injection (P<0. 01 )- The NT acminstration could also enhance the EA analgesia. On the contrary
the pain threshold was decresed in ANTS group as compared with that of ACSF control group. The ANTS administration could decreased the role of EA analgesia. Our data show that NT in spinalcord rnay play an importment role in the EA analgesia
