In the present paper

the author summarized the recent advances (from 1996 on) in experimental research on of anti cerebral aging of acupuncture and moxibustion from 1) regulative action of acupuncture on neuro endocrine system

memory

excitatory amino acid metabolism

cellular histone

apotosis

etc; 2) regulative action of moxibustion on neuro endocrine functional activity

etc; and 3) the effects of other therapies. The author holds that up to now

acupuncture and moxibustion therapies have a certain action in resisting aging

but the acupoint recipes

therapeutic methods and indexes for assessing the therapeutic effect

etc used at the present have no united standards.
