Experimental Study on the Effect of “WU JI TIAO JING WAN" in Resisting Contraction of Uterine Smooth Muscle Caused by Acupuncture[J]. Acupuncture research, 2001, (1): 25-27.DOI:
Objective: To observe the effect of Chinese patent drug “WU JI TIAO JING WAN" (Bolus of Gallus gallus domesticus for Regulating Menstruation) in resisting acupuncture induced contraction of uterine smooth muscle to prevent abortion in rats and mice. Methods:① “Zusanli”(ST 36) was needled with the filiform needle twirled continuously for 10 min
once every 2 min. When the uterine smooth muscle contracted to reach the peak value
the rats were administered (ig) with “WU JI TIAO JING WAN" fluid at a dose of 1.0
4.0 g crude drug/kg
followed by observing changes of uterine smooth muscle again;② When got pregnant
the mice were given with (ig) “WU JI TIAO JING WAN" at a dose of 1.0
2.0
4.0 g crude drug/kg everyday. From the third day on
“Zusanli ”(ST 36) was punctured once everyday and continuously for 10 days. Then the mice were killed for examining the embryonic numbers. Results: When acupuncture stimulation was given
the rat uterine smooth muscle increased significantly in contraction; and the miscarriage mice also increased obviously in number. After administration of “WU JI TIAO JING WAN"
the rat uterine smooth muscle relaxed remarkably and the abortion mice decreased in number considerably. Conclusion: “WU JI TIAO JING WAN" can resist acupuncture stimulation induced excitatory contraction of the rat uterine smooth muscle and lower the abortion rate in mice.
