Objective: To observe the clinical therapeutic effect of acupuncture approach “ Mind Regulation and Meridian collateral Dredging" for the treatment of acute cerebral infarction. Methods: Clinical comparative observations were made by adopting the accumulated scores of nervous functional defect of the patients
12 degrees limb function evaluation of hemiplegia and daily life activity index. There were 58 cases in treatment group and 40 cases in control group. In treatment group
scalp acupoints used were Dingzhongxian (MS 5)
Dingpangxian Ⅱ(MS 9)
etc combined with body acupoints Fenchi (GB 20)
Binao (LI 14)
Quchi (LI 11)
Yongquan (KI 1) and Zusanli (ST 36).In control group
Jianyu (LI 15)
Quchi (LI 11)
Hegu (LI 4)
Neiguan (PC 6)
Shousanli (LI 10)
Yanglingquan (GB 34)
etc. The needles in scalp points were manipulated forcefully with lifting and thrusting methods while those in body acupoints were manipulated with uniform reinforcing reducing method after Deqi and retained for 30 min. Results: After the treatment all the indexes of the 2 groups revealed improvement in nerve functional accumulated scores
limb function and daily life index. However
those of the treatment group were significantly better than those of the control group (P< 0.05). Conclusion: The acupuncture approach of “Mind Regulation and Meridian collateral Dredging" can promote the functional restoration of the limbs and better the daily life management ability of the patients in the acute stage of cerebral infraction.
