Involvement of the Central Adrenergic System in the Relationship between “Neiguan” and the Heart[J]. Acupuncture research, 2000, (4): 263-266. DOI: 10.13702/j.1000-0607.2000.04.005.
The effect of lateral cerebroventricular microinjection of norepinephrine(NE) on acute myocardial ischemia (AMI) and the influence of lateral cerebroventricular microinjection of phentolamine or propranolol on the effect of electroacupuncture (EA) of “Neiguan”(PC 6)in improving AMI were observed in 49 rabbits. The results showed that: (1) lateral cerebroventricular microinjection of NE could slow down the recovery of AMI; (2)EA of “Neiguan”(PC 6) could accelerate the recovery of AMI; (3) lateral cerebroventricular microinjection of phentolamine abolished the effect of EA
but propranolol did not. The facts suggest that central adrenergic system participates in the action of EA at “Neiguan”in ameliorating AMI. EA of “Neiguan” plays its role probably by way of activating central α receptors and inhibiting central β receptors.
