The paper reviewed the advances in clinical application and current studies of Shenque (RN 8)

analyzed the reasons of its contraindications raised by the acupuncturists in the past dynasties. The authors of the present paper hold that there aren't any absolute contraindications in clinical application of Shenque (RN 8) in accordance with results of modern researches. The authors also think that Shenque (RN 8) is very useful in modern acupuncture clinic so long as paying attention to the needle insertion depth and performing strict sterilization.
