    • ROLE OF THE CAUDATE NUCLEUS IN ACUPUNCTURE ANALGESIA(MINIREVIEW)

      摘要:Animal experiments have revealed that stimulation of the caudate nucleus is able to enhance acupuncture analgesia(AA),while lesion of it attenuate AA.Electroacupancture modulates the activity of the caudate neurons sensitive to acetylcholine,serotonin,dopamine or etorphine. Evidences accumulated indicate that intracaudate opioid peptidergic,choli- nergic and serotoninergic systems facilitate AA,and dopaminergic system antagonizes it. The caudale is functionally related to brain areas related to algesia and analgesia.Caudate stimulation has been demonstrated to depress the nociceptive neuronal response recorded from the parafafasicular nucleus and the posterior nuclear group of the thalamus.These two areas, especially the parafascicular nucleus are important in the interration of pain sensation.Caudate stimulaion also depresses the nociceptive response of the cingulate gyrus and the habenular nucleus of the limibic system which playsa strategic part in the integration of pain response.It has been demonstrated that there exists a functional connection between the caudate and the periaqueductal gray-nucleus raphe magnus system,which exerts a descending pain modulating function.Caudate stimulation produced analgesia is brought about at least partly by the opioid peptidergic sysytem of the periaqueductal gray.Caudate stimulation activates neurons in the nuclens raphe magnus,and the activation is believed to be related to the peria- queductal gray. It is postulated that afferent impulses arising from the needling points,reaching the Caudate,elicites an interaction among different trans- mitter systems resulting in the inhibition of brain areas involved in the integration of pain sensation and pain response and in the activation of brain areas involved in pain modulation,thus bringing forth analgesia.

      摘要:Fifty-seven rats were used and divided into three groups:the blank control group,the arthritis group and electro-acupuncture(EA)group. The experimental arthritis produced by Freund's complete adjuvant injection. All arthritis rats in the EA group were given electro-acupuncture at “Huantiao”points bilaterally for 20 minutes every day.After stimes successive EA treatment,the rats of EA group were decapitated.Their Leu-enkephalia contents of pituitary gland and spinal cord were analysed by radioimmttnoassay.The procedure with the rats of the other two groups was the same as the EA group but without needling. It was found that the mean value of LEK content in pituitary gland arthritic rats(23.895.41 pg/mg)is much lower than that of normal rats(36.62±13.36 pg/mg),there is a significant difference between these two groups(p<0.05).But the LEK level of EA group(33.85±11.07 pg/mg)resumed at the control level.The LEK contents of spinal cord in arthritis group(25.93±3.02pg/mg)is much higher than that in blank control group(19.53±1.67 pg/mg)and EA group(19.99±2.03 pg/mg).A comparison was made between arthritis group and EA group(p<0.05). The results showed that the pathological variation of LEK revels both in pituitary gland and spinal cord in experimental arthritic rats could turn to normal by EA treatment.It clearly proved that there is a close relationship between the content of LEK in central nervous system and the analgesic effect of EA.

    • EFFECT OF ACUPUNCTURE ON ULTRASTRUCTURE OF LIVER IN RATS

      摘要:we selected 10 adult male rats(weight 165-250g),which were divided into control group and experimental group and were used in this studies for electron microscopic observation. In control group.The hepatocyte contains large amount of rough end- oplasmic reticulum(RER)and smooth endoplasmic reticulum(SER)in the central and intermediate area of classic lobules.The glycogen a-particles mainly accumulated in periphery area of classic lobules.The hepatic cell possessed abundant mitochondria which was always closely surrounded by flat cisternae of RER. After the acupuncture experiment.The hepacal cell body and nucleus was hypertrophy and nucleolus were predominant.In the hepatocyte the number of RER,free ribosome and polysome were increased,the end of cisternae of RER appeared dilated and the associated ribosome were decrea- sed.So that it was called degranues phenomenon.Cisternaes and tubules of SER were dilated and anastomosed one another to form the irregular meshwork thatistributed throughout in the cytoplasma.The swelled mito- hoadria were with tubule cristae which was transformed from the plate cristae.The glycogen α,β-particles filled the cytoplasma of hepatocytes in three areas of the classic.The Golgi complex well developed and seted near the dilated bile canaliculi(B.C)that was with more longer microvilli pro- jected into the lumen.The junction complex in periphery of B.C.was not changed.Dissess space was distended and filled numerous microvilli which branched and anastomosed with each other formed loose meshwork.The fat-storing cell extend the plasmic processes.Some of which arrenged along endothelial lining.In the cytoplasm of this cell,there were abundant RER, free ribosome and polysome.The cisternae of RER possessed flocculent material of low electron density.It is appeared that the synthesis of fat- storing cell was increased.In addition,there were a number of large lipid droplete in the cytoplasm of this cell.The phagocytosic activity of Kupffer's cells was predominently increased. At last,the relationship between the control group and the acupunc- ture experimental group was discussed in this article too.

      摘要:The effects of EAS of different frequencies on the excitability of various groups in peroneus nerve were studied in rabbits,using standard electro-quantity(a)as the quantitative indices of excitability and consu- lting change of conduction velocity,magnitude and duration course of action potential.The results showed that the excitablity reduction of fibres of various groups is evoked by different frequencies of EAS. Each of fibres of these groups possesses its own critical frequency of EAS,that is,the fibres of group Ⅰ are 200 Hz,the fibres of group Ⅱ are 100 Hz,the fibres of group Ⅲ are 10 Hz and the fibres of group Ⅳ are 5 Hz.Thus,the neurophysiological basis of the selection of the best current intensity and frequency of EAS is provided in electroacupuncture analgesia.It is suggest 1.if a weak current intensity is used to excite the fibres of groups Ⅰ and Ⅱ,the EAS frequency should be less than 100 Hz;2.if a middle current intensity is used to excite the fibres of group Ⅲ,the EAS frequency should be less than 10 Hz;and 3.if a strong current intensity is used to excite the fibres of group Ⅳ,the EAS frequency should be less than 5 Hz.In the above conditions,the safety factor of fibres of various groups would be assured and the excitability of nereve fibres will not be reduced.

      摘要:As a measure of visceral pain,the Galvanic Skin Reflex(GSR), caused by splanchnic nerve stimulation,was recorded in the conscious cats. The inhibitory effect of splanchnic-GSR response caused by“Zusanli” was stronger than that of by another acupoints such as“Jizhong” “Quchi”,“Renchong”,“Chengjiang”. The ordinary effect of acupuncture analgesia could not be demonstrated by needling the“control”point(non-channel focus),such as the root of ear,and some areas of the chest,neck,forehead etc.The effect Inhibitory effect,however,appeared to be more prompt and efficient when both points were applied simultaneously.The difference in the analgesic effect between“Zusanli”acupoint and the“Control”point was significant(P<0.001). The mechanism of the specificity of acupoints was discussed.It seems that the specific effects of different acupoints depend not fully on the degree of abundance of the muscle under the acupoints.Furthermore, the stimulation of acupuncture is different from the direct stimulation of a nerve,innervating that acupoints.Probably,the complexity of the structure of an acupoint is one of the explainations of different effects of the acupuncture.
